First Class hotels should take notes from One Aldwych!
By Kelly, 10/26/06
The gracious lavendar and gray uniformed staff; amazing amenities, especially the pool; and remarkable service overwhelmingly make this hotel rival that of any other in its' class. As a single female business traveler, I felt safe and comfortable. Forget 4 Seasons, Ritz etc. I would come back for both business or leisure travel again and again.

Best hotel experience ever
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/22/09
Never have I had such an a hotel experince. What made it different from any other was the service. From the moment we arrived until the moment we departed, the service was impeccable. Everyone was more than helpful and more than anxious to please. Even the room service was timely and well done. The hotel was also very quiet. I never heard a single sound outside of the room. Definitely would recommend it to anyone. Great location.

Style and substance
By John, 9/11/05
I have been staying here on and off for a few years. The gym is about the best set-up in central London, so if that's important it moves to the top of the list. It is in a choice location for theater and sightseeing. The staff is correct and polite and, for Europe, mostly efficient, although on more than a few occasions I have found myself carrying my own bags in from the taxi or waiting way too long for them to deliver. I love the little boxes outside the rooms--you dump your shoes in before retiring, and in the morning there they are all shiny along with the morning's newspapers. One amazing touch: They always remember what radio station I was listening to when I checked out on the previous visit, and housekeeping almost always has the one in my room tuned to it when I checked in. I used to think it was an accident. The lobby is one of the better meeting places in town at cocktail hour, too. If money is not the object, a great place to stay. And if money is really not an object, upgrade to larger room class...

Exciting Location & Glamorous Setting!
By Amy, 1/5/07
Likes: The location can't be beat! (Other than we had a hard time finding the closest Underground station.) The doormen are professional and extremely helpful. They should replace the rotating concierges! The rooms are absolutely beautiful! We almost changed at the last minute due to other reviews which stated that the rooms were too small to be comfortable. But we didn't, and since we had a Christmas/New Years deal, we got probably the smallest room. It was just fine though, particularly since the wonderful doormen (really, I can't say enough about those gentlemen!) took our empty suitcases and stored them until we wanted them to pack. The bathroom is beautiful, and the bed was wonderful. My husband didn't like the soft feather pillows, so the doorman (love those guys) brought him two firm pillows immediately. Free wireless internet! (Wired internet costs a bundle!) Please keep this feature -- it was fantastic! Dislikes: The US plug didn't work, but the doorman (!) brought us up a conversion plug to use, which was great for my laptop. The concierge seemed to change every day, and the one big task we asked him to do (make a New Years evening reservation) didn't happen. Very disappointed in this. Didn't find this service to be the world class quality of much of the rest of the hotel. The employees (other than the doormen) were a bit shaky with English at times, but tried their best always. Need to always have a senior staffer working who is a native speaker of English.

Boutique Hotel offers it all - Location, Friendly Attentive Service, Style, and Relaxation
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/17/04
One Aldwych has been listed as part of the Leading Small Hotels of the World and one can easily understand why. What used to be an old bank has been transformed into a more modern but tastefully decorated hotel. One walks into a large open lobby, with large bay windows and high open cielings giving a very open airy feel to the lobby area and bar. Although the staff are professional, they are also friendly and down to earth..giving one the feeling of coming home to ones private apartment rather than a hotel. Although some of the standard rooms are not large, the space is designed well and gives a cozy warm, and modern feel to it. Room Service is excellent, and staff quite quick and attentive to demands. Bathrooms are well decorated and details not missed with all the modern needs including a TV. Some combine both a private shower and large tub bath, rooms are quiet making it a nice place to come back to after a busy hectic day in London. There is an indoor pool, and gym area also making this a good place to relax or unwind, a rare find in a city hotel. Speaking of London, it couldnt be better situated in the heart of the theater district, and near Convent Garden. Well situated on a corner, also lends to the openess of the hotel. I have stayed in many London Hotels and my preference is for smaller unique/boutique hotels. I keep coming back to the One Aldwych experience, which continues to be one of my favorite hotels! Not to be missed!
