Big room, great food, nice price!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/2/11
We stayed at the Edgewater, in one of the rooms in the Inn, for our daughter's first Parents' Weekend at college. (There are a variety of room types, the Inn is more old-fashioned, but there are also condos.) Most other places in the area were very expensive, and most were booked. We ended up with a huge room, king bed, pull-out sofa, nice chairs, plus an adjoining smaller room with twin bed and extra blankets and pillows - all for much less than a generic "cheap" hotel! We also had access to a full kitchen and beautiful, large living room with books, magazines and games. Perfect for our family of 4. It was very private and quiet. The decor was very interesting - some 1970's, some "Grandma's house," but cool artwork, knicknacks and little details-kind of homey. It's right across from the lake, lovely to walk and sit and look out at the water. But the best thing was the food at the adjoining Trak Inn! The breakfast buffet was unbelievable, a server came around with gooey sweet rolls hot from the oven, plus there wre also menu items I think. All kinds of breads, pancakes, eggs, sausage, etc. Dinner was also amazing, the salad bar alone could have been a full meal, included salads from around the world plus the usual, and fresh, homemade bread. Plus a full menu of delicious entrees, everything tasted fresh and homemade. They offered a discount on all meals for guests who were staying there, in honor of parents' weekend at the local colleges. The staff was friendly, helpful and welcoming. We will definitely be going back!

Very Disappointed
By Very Disappointed, 10/7/11
When we pulled into the Resort, it looked great until we opened the door to our room. We stayed in the Motel section and couldn't believe our eyes and the smell. The rugs are flithy and so are the bed spreads and blankets. The towels are so old they should be used as rags. They are so thin you could just about see through them. The smell of the water was revolting and the tub was all moldy around the edges. When we layed in the bed all you could see were the cobwebs hanging from the walls. I was so grossed out I couldn't sleep all night (by the way, we slept in our clothes.) Some of the reviews mentioned it needs updating which is very true. I don't have a problem with "outdated" I have a problem with filth. There is no reason for any room that people are paying hard earned money to stay in, to be so filthy. The only plus was the restaurant across the street. The food was awesome. Will I be back to the Edgewater? NEVER!!! Very Disappointed.

the track inn is not a 5 star hotel ,but if your looking for freindly staff and great food as well as a great lake yo've found the write place. my family used to own a house on the lake that was two generations ago, I've been going to the htel since i was 2 years old and now go with my wife we just love the place where can you go for under $120.00 per night with breakfust and dinner ? NO WHERE. ITS A GREAT PLACE FOR FAMILIES !!!!!! we go for the fishing. so if your looking for a spa and go on vacation to stay in your room then this isnt the place for you. this place is truely a gem.we hope that it will never be sold and in place a expencive hotel, it's all about the family and the joy of the lake

Wonderful family vacation spot
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/31/11
We have been going to the Edgewater since our children were little, and now we are going with our grandchildren. The rooms are old, true. But unless the weather is awful, no one stays in the room. The lake is gorgeous, and this is the last hotel left (there used to be 2 other large hotels). The food is excellent and the Poremski family are wonderful hosts. My daughters- in- law even bring their parents.

Accept its dated before you go & you'll love it!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/12/11
Who can beat the price for a room on a great lake????? We go for weekends several times a year and always hear someone unhappy and complaining about how outdated it is, but its always clean, the staff has always been very accomodating, and outdated quickly becomes charming when you recognize what a bargain you are getting. If you are going for the rooms rather than the awesome lake, you should probably look elsewhere. If its the lake your looking for, it can't be beat in the area and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Great Family Vacation spot
By K, 8/1/10
My husband and I drove to Vermont to look at a Motor home. We ended up staying longer than we planned at the dealership and asked the salesman if he could suggest somewhere to stay.... And he told us about the Edgewater Resort. The Edgewater Resort is not a place I would have gone to or found on my own but our one night stay turned into three because of the charm. We stayed in the waterfront hotel and the sunset/rise were remarkable. The rates were reasonable...the family that runs it is wonderful and the restaurant across the street from the hotel (where all the cooking is homemade) is fantastic…and plentiful. The hotel rooms are a little dated but we fell in love with Valerie, the 91 year old woman that still gets up at 5:00am to make bread for the restaurant and continues to run the resort. She was very charming and even spent the time to give us a brief story about the history of the resort. We picked our Motor Home a week later and spent another night in the Inn *this was my personal favorite* the decor was vintage and made you want to stop and look around. The rooms as well as the downstairs "home style environment" at the Inn were decorated in an older style that made me feel this was a family run operation that took a lot of pride in the attention they gave to ensuring their guest a great stay... so we booked a week for the end of the summer. It's been so nice to meet these nice people. We will continue to go back every year in the summer......and maybe a winter break? :)

A true gem!
By Lorie, 9/28/09
We booked at the Edgewater for the first time. The reviews made me hestitant, but we wanted to stay near our daughter, a Castleton student, rather than all of the way in Rutland. We were pleasantly surprised. Mrs. P and Grace are wonderful. Our condo was a bit dated but very clean and large. Perfectly met our needs. We had breakfast at the Trak-Inn this morning. The buffet was a bargain and a very pleasant atmosphere. We will most certainly return to the Edgewater, especially to see Mrs. P and Grace!

A+++
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/30/08
It's not difficult to understand what makes this resort so endearing and perfect. Beautiful views, competetive rates, comfortable rooms, and a strong familial atmosphere combine to create what is likely to be the best hotel solution in central Vermont. The attached restaurant makes a delicious case for classic American cuisine. Boats are welcome, and children will be amused by the lake at their front door. The only complaint I can conjure is that the parking lot gets a little tight when full.

not as advertised
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/8/08
When we arrived we were assigned the type of unit reserved, but at a higher price. We were told the lower price was for a different unit that wasn't available and were very politely told we could take it or leave. Due to the fact that out plans were already made, we stayed only to find that the poor reviews were accurate. The unit was worn and dirty complete with an obviously used washcloth, holey sheets, stained ceiling and carpets. While the owners/employees were friendly and polite, service was basically nonexistent. We could hear everything from the adjoining units as well as footsteps and louder noises from the entire building. The location on the lake is great, but the units we saw were in desparate need of a thorough cleaning, and new carpet at the very least.
