Room was cozy!

It's a great hotel but if any of you are looking to save some $$ then book it at Sweethoteldeals. Net They usually have some pretty good deals on there!

Not so great
By ,
Room was small but okay except for the leaky fridge. Website advertised a free breakfast that we were then told didn't exist! For sure would have stayed somewhere else if we had known there was no breakfast. Next trip to Milwaukee will stay elsewhere. Front desk folks could be friendlier also!

cold service and not the cleanist
By ,
Front desk was not friendly at all, sighed and impatiently taped pen against the desk when talking to us. Sheets had huge yellow stains on it, and housekeeping was not available when we requested a change of sheets. Diner was okay, waiter friendly, but waited forever for our food/between courses, when we were the only people eating there. Location is good, right next to the mall. Can’t say I’ll stay here again.

If I return to Milwaukee, I'd stay here, maybe.
By ,
I was in Milwaukee for two nights (6/17/08 & 6/18/08) The rooms are small. The hotel staff was okay. When I asked where to park, I was directed to a $12 a day lot. When I asked whether or not I'd be able to leave and reenter with out any problems, I was directed to the $10 lot next door to the building. It wasn't exactly helpful. The building itself wasn't bad. I believe it is on the Historic Register. I didn't try the on site restaurant. The hotel is very close to everything downtown, i.e., River Walk, the Lakefront, Art Museum, Wisconsin Cheese Mart, Usinger's, Shopping Mall, Miller Park, State Fair Grounds, and the Miller Brewing Company is a short drive away. The elevators were dirty every morning, i.e., beer cans and cups, like what one might expect of fans returning from a ball game. But other than that, housekeeping was alright. It was too bad there wasn't a pool or breakfast of some sort. It was a good bargain, though, overall, and, I would stay there again. Afterall, Milwaukee is a fun town and has charm.

poor operation
By ,
This is the second year in a row we stayed at this hotel. There was a large group and we booked 7 rooms weeks in advance. We travel with a group of high school students and our rooms were not only scattered, they were on different floors, making it difficult to keep track of all students. In addition, three of the rooms were cold as it was January and sub zero temps, and the room heaters did not work well. we woke up to 51 degrees in our room, anotherr was 53 and the other 56. The hotel did comp the three rooms...that was nice. The restaurant in the basement had 30 seats and two waitresses. the waitresses acted like serving us was a major inconvenience. The students were on their best behavior and the waitresses were short and rude to them. Three ladies waited at the door for seating for 30 minutes. When they saw 3 available chairs and asked about them, they were rudely told they would have to wait and they could not use the open chairs. I asked people at other tables for their un-used chairs, put them around a chairless table and told the girls to sit there. Last year the service was poor. This year it was pathetic. We will never go there again. It was a block from the education convention we attended. It was not so convenient as we had hoped. Overall, I was very disappointed. Even parking was a hassle.

Will Never Stay Again
By ,
First we were not told ahead of time that we had to pay $10 per day for parking. We traveled 10 hours to get there just for everything to go wrong. Every single person that worked there was SO rude!! I was told when I booked the room that we would have a microwave in the room. We brought about $75 in groceries with us to help save some money. Well, there was no microwave anywhere. We had to go down 5 floors and use the tiny, dirty, public one. We had the maid walk in on us 2 different times without knocking. Our room keys were deactivated 3 times in 5 days. Everytime something would go wrong, the employees at the hotel had attitudes and acted like everything was our fault. They were the rudest people I have ever met. It was the absolute worst experience ever. Everyday, something went wrong. The only good thing about the hotel is that it was in an excellent location. We were there for Summerfest and it was close enough that we could walk. Also, for the most part it was pretty clean.

Location ISN'T everything!
By ,
Although in a good central location and close to many places downtown, this hotel was a HUGE disappointment. We had low expectations going in, paying under $70, but were shocked at how bad the hotel is. The receptionist that checked us in was very friendly and was happy to change us to a different room after we discovered the first to be unacceptable (in a corner, no windows, super small, and smelled of cheap mens cologne!!!). Our second room was a bit of an improvement but not much. It had not been vacuumed, there were cigarette ashes in the toilet, the bed was only a full size and very uncomfortable, and the heating system was SO loud! Even though it was a non-smoking room, every time the heat went on it circulated smoke from a neighboring room. There was no rest to be had... I woke up nearly every hour...we both woke up sore. What a huge disappointment! We will not stay at this location ever. Bargain hunters beware, even though it's cheap, which is tempting, you too will be shocked! What you pay for REALLY is what you get!!!

Great Time
By ,
First of all anyone who stays at this hotel and says all these bad things and is so picky then spend more money staying in a ritzy place other than complaining. My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel april 6th,7th,and 8th for the chicago cubbies game. We had a great time we didnt spend alot of time in the hotel but why would you if your traveling. Everything was clean our room was just fine for the two us and we had our own refridgerator and microwave that was a plus. People were friendly and good service when we came home drunk and wanted food haha! We had a great time down at the hotel bar the first night. Its right by everything there is a great bar right down the street called mo's pub that was fun. Overall everythings great and we would stay there again its not a ritzy place but if your going for a few days dont want to spend alot of money and have fun its a good place to go!

Great value for frugal travellers
By ,
I stayed in this hotel in early Dec. 2006 for a conference there in downtown Milwaukee. I had limited budget for traveling, so "price" and "location" together was my primary criterion for choosing a hotel. The location of this hotel was superb. It is literally a few steps away from a huge mall and only one traffic light away from my venue. The price was sweet. I paid $70-ish per night for a two-double-bed room. This offer also came with coupons for free breakfast in a diner downstairs (for one person only). The content of the breakfast was very decent: a huge, hot slice of hash brown, two eggs, two slices of buttered toast, and tea/coffee. I had to pay the tax for this free breakfast, but it was like 50 cents only. However, the quality of the breakfast service depends on who served you. One morning I was served by a smiling nice lady, and she let me choose whatever tea from a case. I tipped her well. The next day I was served by a slow and reluctant one who gave me orange pekoe without asking and forgot my milk. I left her the 50 cents for the tax. Finally, I want to comment on the friendly service by the hotel manager at the reception desk. My friend and I wanted to go to the cheese market but weren't sure about the business hour. The manager gave us a map and phoned the store to see if it was still open. In brief, I got great value from what I paid for. I recommend this hotel to travellers who have a limited budget and still want to get the most out of downtown Milwaukee.

Double check your room rate at arrival
By ,
My room was booked in advance at a convention rate for the convention I was to attend. When I checked out, I was charged the full room rate!!! There was no recourse. They did not have a business card for the manager and of course he was not available. The people who worked room service and housekeeping were very helpful and remembered me as this was an extended stay. The parking is at the other end of the block and you have to pay cash every day as the parking lot is controled by another company. This is not clear in their advertising.
