Description

This four-star ultra-minimalist establishment has lots of discreet lighting features, long curving interior walls and bold primary colors. The architect and owner, Andrew Doolan has created something of a contemporary design and a unique place to stay in Edinburgh. Attention is paid to the smallest detail, from the warm and welcoming reception hues to the crisp sheets and excellent bedroom facilities. The Point Restaurant serves healthy straightforward fare and there is ale and art on tap in the Monboddo Bar .

Very enjoyable stay
By ,
We stayed here for 2 nights recently for the Edinburgh marathon and I was very impressed. All the staff were aware of the event going on that weekend and were most helpful in everything they did. Despite being very busy, they had time for everyone and their knowledge of the local area and advice on how to get about was exceptional. The rooms were most comfortable and they laid on early breakfast for all runners, which was much appreciated and very thoughtful. Both healthy and cooked breakfasts were top notch! The rates are very reasonable too and it's easy to get to The Castle and Princes Street. All in all, a lovely time and I would stronly recommend staying at this hotel.

Great hotel in great city
By ,
I have seen a lot of reviews for this place mostly good, but some not so good. I am firmly on the side of good! I thought it was very impressive, especially as I only paid £74 for a double room including full cooked breakfast. Check in was very easy and we were able to leave our bags in a secure area after arriving on an early flight. The room (313) was spacious with sofa, flatscreen tv, tea and coffee making facilities, large windows with a castle view and the most comfortable bed ever. The en suite was a wet room with a powerful shower. Only slight downsides were the sink was small and low down and the shower room made the windows steam up in the bedroom! Breakfast was good with a choice of cereals, toast, croissants and a full fry up buffet style. Yes there are a couple of lap dancing bars nearby and yes the corridors are a bit strange but it is 10 minutes from the castle and Princess Street, the airport bus drops off about 5 minbutes away. All in all I would definitely recommend to others.

Great hotel
By ,
We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The staff were very friendly and effcient. We booked a large party and had to alter a few bookings, people changing dates etc. This was no problem, the staff were really helpful, and courteous at all times. We have stayed in lots of hotels, and this was one of the best. Children friendly too!

Go for the jacuzzi suite!!!
By ,
Group of 9 architects, stayed for 1 night: Hotel bar was lively and not overpriced. Beds were very comfy, rooms were clean. Jacuzzi suites are a real treat. Staff were polite and efficient. Lovely modern spaces, very different from any other hotel I have stayed in. Loved it.... would go again

Not as cool as it thinks it is...
By ,
The people changing the bedding started having a shouted conversation down the corridor at 8.30 a.m. on a Sunday morning. By 10 a.m. they'd managed to set the fire alarm off. The service in this hotel ranges from the mildly unimpressive to the absolutely dire. And it's certainly not as cool as it thinks it is...
