after reading the fantastic reviews on this hotel,my sister chose it for her wedding 1/08/07.we have stayed all over the world in 3 4 5 star hotels this was definately overrated, tired decor old fashioned ,staff obviously didnt enjoy their work they were unfriendly, sullen and service was appalling, especially the beach bar.the rooms were small and dingy, even though we paid extra for a full sea view (which we didnt get)unless you count standing to one side of the balcony and peering round the side.we had to ring reception many times because we had no milk, towels pillows, robes etc,the food was good, until you realised you were always eating the left overs from the previous meal.dining areas were like school cafeterias.the meals and drinks are very expensive £4.00 for a vodka and coke the other problem is you dont pay as you eat you are encouraged to run up a tab until the end of your stay which can be quite usefull however beware whilst we were there an argument broke out and management had realised a group of people were billing there food and drinks to other peoples rooms as there is no system in place to prevent this. the weather was fantastic, unfortunately the air conditioning wasnt it was terrible.on leaving your rooms the air con was disconnected automatically, the rest of the hotel was as bad it was only switched on a few hours a day and in 45 degrees this was unacceptable for a hotel with a platinum rating.there are far to many weddings i felt sorry for my sister as she was hurried around it is literally a conveyor belt of weddings and considering the amount of money they charge for these dream weddings its a farce even the priest was rude, not to mention the so called wedding planner now to the politics of haidressing which i got caught up in,the bride and four bridesmaids had their hair done at hotel atlantica ,i made an appointment at christinas hair salon at the saint george, the other bridesmaids had previously spoke to christina but decided because of the price and attitude to stick with andrea at the atlantica.i turned up on the day at 11.30am for my appointment and was rudely told she couldnt do my hair( this was three hours before the wedding)i told her i had an appointment ,she questioned me about where my sisters had gone and wether they had a hairdresser in the room obviously annoyed they had gone elsewhere, she point blank refused to honour my appointment then locked the shop up and walked away.as you can imagine i was so upset ,one phone call later andrea had agreed to keep her shop open especially for me and i jumped in a taxi and andrea saved the day thankyou andrea!!so all you brides out there beware!!! do not believe the dream wedding scenario,it doesnt exist at the st george
