Microtel Inn Beckley, Beckley

stayed for two nights and it was great. The indoor pool is actually big enough to swim in, and the hot tub is wonderful for road weary bones.Tha staff is friendly and there are many area restaurants right next door. The room we had was kind of small but very clean with plenty of towels. we had two small dogs so dog walk areas are a concern but this motel has large back yard, we plan on making W.Virginia a yearly vacation destination and we will definatly come back to Microtel.

Stayed two nights at the Microtel on Harper Ave. with my wife and son on a vacation stop to go white river rafting on the New River. I ended up making reservations at this place after not getting any takers on priceline bids for the Holiday Inn or Country Inn which are next door (I think they were the only priceline 3 star). We all thought the place was good, the staff was very friendly, the rooms were large enough for 3 and we had no noise issues. Not 4 or 5 star accommodations but then your not paying that much either. We didn't use the pool so I have no comment on it. I would highly recommend this Microtel if you're looking mainly for just a place to sleep overnight on a stopover or when doing other things in the area - note there is another Microtel in East Beckley but have no info on that one.

The manager is rude and the place is dirty. When you make a complaint, manager acts as if it is your fault. Dirt and dust blowing out of the heater, room unclean, and manager appears to need PR training. Will never think about staying there again.

They have bedbugs! We stayed at this hotel for one night on our way to Ohio, and we found bedbugs in the room the next morning. They were crawling on the bed that my 3-year-old had been sleeping in. We called housekeeping, and the lady confirmed that "Those look like bedbugs alright, Do you want some trashbags for your stuff?" and another gem: "Well, we can't help it if somebody comes here and stays a week and brings 'em in with them." Yes, you can. I'm now washing everything I took on that trip. Stay at the Holiday Inn at the same exit instead. We should have!

I liked the location for going tubing at Winterplace Resort, but I called several days before and ask about the pool to see if it was heated they said yes. Well, the water was probly 50 degrees. I even went and told the guy at the front desk how cold it was and he came out and checked it himself and said he was going to have the servie person come look at it, but he never came back.That was very disappointing especially with a young boy who needed an energy reducer after the drive down. The room itself was nice. The beds were comfy and the shower had a nice pressure to it. Had some dust but nothing bad. Had a great view of Tamarac and the window seat was great! I seriously don't think I would stay here again. I guess you pay cheap you get cheap.

This was the second time staying in this hotel in the past few years and I will never go back! The first time we were just passing through and we didn't get in till late, we found dirty sheets on our bed. The second a relative had booked it ahead for us(or I would have never chosen this hotel again) so I had no choice, we got in late, I went to get in bed and stepped on something wet and smelled vomit immediately. I had to fight with the employee to get him to clean it. He told me there was nothing he can do because the carpet cleaner would not fit beside the bed. He said I can check you out and you can go somewhere else. I was shocked by his suggestion. I told him so you're telling me either I sleep smelling vomit, or go somewhere else at 10pm. Did I mention the sheets were dirty again. After 30 minutes of arguing with him, he finally brought the steam cleaner in and cleaned it (wow, it did fit). He also changed the sheets. He actually gave me an attitude when I'm the one who stepped in someone elses vomit. I just went to bed and couldn't wait to get up and check out of there. I will never again stay at a Microtel.

I've stayed there several times while doing business in the area. Rates are cheaper than the others. However, there is always constant noise...doors slamming, kids running up and down the hall, people above or next to you banging doors and such. People need to control their little yard monkeys. All this happens way up into the night. Each time I go back it seems to get worse. Service was ok but the place needs a good cleaning. It's getting a bit worn, probably due to the kids in and out of the pool. And yes, I've had kids, but mine were disciplined.

The staff here was incredibly disrespectful; I have never been so upset about how mean a person was to my friends & I in my entire life. A man practically chased us out of the hotel just for trying to use the wireless internet to turn in a term paper after we had already checked out....he started to write down our license plate number even though we cordially agreed to leave and not use the internet. He completely freaked out and was honestly the meanest person I have ever met in my entire life and no one should stay in a hotel that would hire this kind of employer. beware!!!

I would like to say that I stayed in Microtel this pass October and found my stay to be comfortable my grandchildren and daughter also pleased. The price was right and easy to find. I plan on staying there again. The ice machine didn't work while I was there on the third floor but that was no problem I went to the second floor.

Our room with one queen bed was much too small and was claustrophobic. There were not individual bedside lamps but one bright over the bed florescent light. There was only one chair also. Some of the rooms on the floor allowed smoking so one was assaulted by the smell of tobacco smoke when exiting the elevator. The continental breakfast was almost non existent...coffee and dry muffins. The room was clean and enough towels were provided. The housekeeper checked the second day we were there to make sure our room was OK. I probably won't stay in a Microtel again due to the microscopic size of the rooms. Its name should have given me a clue. The location was convenient and the hotel was situated far enough from the road for quiet.
