Divi Village Golf & Beach Resort, Oranjestad

My husband and I were honeymooners at the end of August and our parents had exchanged their RCI for us as a wedding present. At first everything was great, we loved our 2nd floor room with a view of the golf course and the food was very good. The 2nd night we were on our vacation however, my husband woke up (at 2am) to rushing water in the bathroom attached to our room. Water was coming through the vent on the ceiling. He called the office and they told him they were aware of the problem. At that point we went outside to see that all of the people from the floor above us had evacuated their rooms. When we re-entered our room we noticed that water was now coming through the light fixtures and the kitchen and the rest of the room was flooding as well. We packed up our things and joined the other people outside. We were out there for over an hour waiting for someone to even acknowledge us and hopefully to relocate us. When they finally did we were put in a smaller room on the 1st floor with a view of the hospital. We were told someone would contact us in the morning to "sort things out" No one did. My husband called down to speak to a manager. The gm showed up at our door and offered to treat us to brunch (we were on the all inclusive so that really wasn't what we wanted to be offered.) From then on we were given the run around until we finally got in touch with someone who put us in a comparable room. (not before we talked to three different people who gave us excuses and wasted a full afternoon of our honeymoon) I also had them throw in a free meal at Windows since that is not included in the all-inclusive. Pretty much what I discovered is that this "one happy island" is only happy when things are going well. Their customer service was terrible!! Wouldn't stay at a Divi again.

I stayed at the Divi Village Golf & Beach Resort with my girlfriend and other family members. We really enjoyed our stay, it was very relaxing and the Divi Village were very were very nice and friendly and didn't hesitate to make any problem (which were very very small for me) right. They were very accomodating and looked out for our every need. The rooms were very nice and pretty much up to date. There were some fun games, great food and lots of things to do in and at the other Divi Reorts locations near by. I can't wait to get back and soak in that beautiful water and the refreshing Tradewind breezes. I'm going to buy. I Love You Divi Village.

I stayed there for a week three years ago and was so impressed that I just bought a timeshare for the first full platinum week in February, at a great price, and looking forward to it. It is in a great central location and you have reciprocal privileges at the other Divi resorts. The beach is right across the street, which I much prefer the pool, maybe because I was brought up on the ocean so it really doesn't make a big impression on me. The water is v-e-r-y salty like you have never been in salt water like this - nothing bad but get a mouthful, wow, an experience. You don't need a car while staying here. The shuttle drives you down to the Alhambro casino, taxi cabs either going to the high-rise area or downtown are more than reasonable. The resort may be a little dated, but it is clean and the help is attentive; remember, when in Rome, do as the Romans do!! Relax and enjoy.

I have stayed at the Divi Village twice, Jan. '06 and March '06. Divi website rooms pictures are accurate in appearance, you just need to know where all the rooms are located. All pictures also correctly state where they are located, the Village or Villas. The large pool shown (on the amenities area of the Divi website) is part of the "Links" area of the resort. The Links area is new, still being built, and farther from the beach. The Villa area is behind the big building of the Village rooms and has its own pool. It is hard to get a room in the Villas area through the website. I think the rooms are very nice and spacious. Full kitchens in all rooms. The pool at the Links area is nice, but also very cold when we were there in March. I am unclear how this happens as the weather was gorgeous and sunny. All I can think is that it is open and quite a bit of wind goes by it. There is a swim up bar at the Links pool. Cleaning staff was great, but the front desk was hit or miss on their hospitality/helpfullness. I think since building the Links they have become overworked and overwhelmed with all the check-ins for the Links, Villas and Village guests. The Village is across the street from the beach. It is in between the Tamarijn and Divi Aruba Beach. When we stay here, we get the All-inclusive at the Divi and Tamarijn and use thios resorts most of the time. I was actually very impressed with how well-kept the rooms are. The time share is quite a few years old and with people in the rooms constantly, it has to be hard to keep the rooms up.
