Frustration (Long)
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/28/07
We arrived in a group. When we arrived, they quoted a higher price than we had been told previously when the reservations were made (all because we had an extra person in each room--I've NEVER had a hotel do this before, even if they state that they "could"charge extra).
One of the ladies in our group went to get extra towels, and the desk clerk told her she could not get towels because another woman in her room already received them. She was the only woman in her room, so she tried to explain that it must've been someone else from our group in the room across the hall, and they had accidentally told them the wrong room number. The clerk ARGUED with her, and even showed her the log form, and refused to give her any towels! What happened to "the customer is always right?" She finally persuaded him by telling him that she would like to get towels for the room across the hall:)
We had to have our room keys redone each day, and even then, one of them wouldn't work! They make continental breakfast available, but you aren't allowed to take it back to your room. I traveled with my baby, and I could not wake him up just for me to eat breakfast, and I was NOT about to leave him in the room long enough to eat. This was majorly inconvenient to me.
On our last night's stay, one of our ladies heard the phone ringing while she was in the shower, so she hurriedly got out, but it stopped ringing. Within moments, the desk clerk was trying to get her to open the door. He said there was an alarm going off, and she must open the door or pay a $500 damage fee. She refused, not being dressed, and told him everything was fine (which it was). We later found out it was the fire (intense heat) alarm! Just from the shower?
When we went to check out, the clerk didn't know how to check us out with a business check, and splitting the rooms 2 ways. To his credit, he had only worked there a few days, but why would the manager leave someone inexperienced working the counter? We had to wait 20 extra minutes when we wanted to get on the road, just to wait for the manager to get there.
Overall, the hotel itself was clean, and the breakfast was tasty, but there were just so many frustrations this time (we have stayed there before with better service, and at a much lower price), that we will not be staying there again. When you stay somewhere, you expect the staff to be competent, speak clear English, and the property to not malfunction. Needless to say, we were disappointed!
