Lake Tahoe Vacation Resort, South Lake Tahoe

The staff is friendly and the hotel building is nice, after that it all goes downhill. They have inadequate parking and then charge you $16 per day. You must pay $70 for a week of wireless internet, there wasn't enough hot water to take a bath, the room was SUPER tiny and the only "cooking" was via a microwave. The heating system was noisy.

Nice place really, newish construction, nice pool. clean enough. The maid service is every 4 days, which is crap, but can be dealt with. Whats unacceptable and the reason I will never go back is the late night and early morning cleaning they do of the hallways. The cleaning crew runs from 10pm-1am, and then again in the early morning. The front desk doesnt care if it keeps you up or wakes you up early. Not only do they not care, they are snotty about it. If you can sleep through a loud vacuum right outside your door as you are trying to sleep, then this is the place for you. Otherwise find someplace else.

These people were so willing to accomodate us - it is a time share but we were not interested in doing that - we had our own itinerary. Very clean, friendly staff. Would stay there again!

We have stayed at the resort several times and are always happy with the service, cleanliness, size of rooms and the friendly staff. We took the 90 minute presentation and were asked at the end of 90 minutes whether or not we wanted to take more time for more information. There was no pressure to go beyond longer. Have never felt pressured by any staff member to do anything we didn't want to do. The resort is no longer managed by Embassy Suites so this site should correct the picture and update its information. It is a Diamond Resorts International resort and no longer associated with Embassy. The room sizes are good and should be chosen based on number of people in the party. We have used the one bedroom when we are visiting as a couple and the two bedroom when we have one of our children and there family. Always enough space for everyone.

As some of the other reviewers have said, this is a time share property, and the entire focus is to get you to part with your money to join them in the "fastest growing industry in the nation" blah blah blah. If you take the tour (they give you some incentive, cash, restaurant coupons, etc.) be prepared for a minimum of 2.5 hours, not the 90 minutes they tell you it will take, and no, there's nothing you can do to shut them up to make it go faster. I tried. LOL The pools are small-ish but the location is fantastic - right on the beach, walking distance (20 mins) to the casinos, short drive/trolley to some really nice easy walks with historic sites or some really challenging hikes. We went whitewater rafting, horseback riding (DEFINITELY DO THIS and do the breakfast ride! Awesome!), and kayaking, the latter of which is really not worth the money but my kids insisted. Rent bikes to get around some of the state park areas. Chevy's across the street is very affordable and good food. The restaurant inside LTVR is also surprisingly good with very affordable kids' menu items, although the portions are toddler sized vs. older kids. Also you don't get your room cleaned every day so bring your own coffee/splenda etc. and hang your towels because you'll need to get several days' use out of them. If I did it again, I'd check prices on the super 8 motel (across the street) to save money since we spent most of the time outdoors instead of in. IF you want to hang out in a hotel and relax bythe fire, this is a good place. IF you want somewhere great to stay in Tahoe area to go do fabulous outside things, look for something else on Lake Tahoe Blvd - put in this property's address and google for nearby properties.

WARNING! If you are not an owner at the Tahoe Vacation Resort, DO NOT expect to receive a unit with any sort of view of the mountains or especially Lake Tahoe. The front desk staff are not at all helpful in trying to get you a unit with a view and just kept telling us to check back every day and we only were given a unit with a partial view after 3 nights of "checking back with the front desk", losing our tempers and recruiting the help of the sales team to get us a better unit. Not Happy! We did not enjoy looking at the ground floor parking lot everytime we looked out the window with the constant moving of cars and parking lot attendants.

we love this place especially the indoor outdoor heated swimming pool the breakfest aint half bad either.we always have a great time when we come here.service is great and we love the jungle atmostphere

We stayed here in April. The resort was beautiful. Free computers not far from roaring fire in downstairs area. Indoor/outdoor pool with jacuzzi. The fitness room was a little small but not crowded. Video room kept kids occupied while I read book in lounge area-same for pool table in upstairs lounge area. Bear Moon restaurant on site. Very good food-but nothing fancy. Kids/craft activities throughout week (fee for most) and babysitting in the activities room (I think it was $5 a kid? for 3 hours) on Fri night so we had a great date/casino night. Unit was 2 bedroom, very spacious, tastefully decorated with fireplace, whirlpool tub, king in master, 2 doubles in second bedroom. Full kitchen. Laundry on site. I was told they have free bikes in summer. Very close to lake-maybe 100-200 feet? My family loved it and will be definitely be staying here for skiing or (hopefully) Christmas-the fireplaces (in unit and big one downstairs) and indoor/outdoor pool will be great. And they have a shuttle to Heavenly!
