Any port in the storm

I wanted to stay in Delavan, Wi but the weekend I was to go there, everything was booked up. So I checked out this Sleep Inn. The phone reservation person was nice and helpful. They had only a few rooms available and one of them was a smoking room. So I took the non-smoking one.
The front desk personnel were fine and friendly. Fairly quick to check me in and check-out.
Overall, the Sleep Inn was ok. The room did not have a phone in it. Why? I have no idea. And when I went to park my car near it, I noticed the window was left open. I closed it and found out later why it was left open. Upon returning later that night, there was a slight hint of natural gas smell in the room. For safety sake, I left the window open that night and turned on the A/C.
They charged me over $100 (tax included) for the room. Was it worth it? Well.... for over $100 the room:
a) had the gas smell
b) had no phone
c) had no clock radio in it
d) No HBO or Showtime
The side door (to get into the hotel from its back parking lot) had a broken lock. Anybody could get in from the back parking lot. Very scarry!
They do have an indoor pool that seemed to be family filled.
They also offer a continental breakfast near the pool. A Citgo gas station is nearby and its very close to I - 43.
I'm sure that I was charged the $100+ due to the time of year. I think for all things considered, $70-$80 charged would have seem more reasonable.
But I needed a room and they were near Delavan. So the old saying of "any port in the storm" is true. Will I go back? Only if that back door lock is fixed.
Sleep Inn would have recieved a much higher rating if the room had a phone, the clock radio and no natural gas smell. The broken lock also greatly lowered their rating.
Check out the near-by "Blue Bay" restaurant. Very good breakfast.
