This hotel is cheap and very basic, but it has been recently renovated. Most rooms are small with modern decor, although the larger loft-style rooms have more character. Probably the Cosmopolitan's best asset is that it is located in the trendy Tribeca district, near such fun spots as The Odeon , and upscale restaurants like Bouley . It is also easily accessible to Soho, the South Street Seaport , Chinatown and Little Italy .

We are regulars at Cosmo when in NYC...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/22/08
Terrific location in neighborhood of Tribeca, why stay uptown with many restaurants (Nobu and Odeon) neaarby and with much to explore in this part of the city? Subway out front, one block to another Subway line; Starbucks at front door...2 blocks to WTC site, Century 21 department store for mega-bargains, and a few blocks north to Soho/ Chinatown. Clean hotel, friendly service, plain decor but bargain rates. Pay the extra and get a sofa in room or a bit too small. We've done both, once we even had a second sink in the room outside the full bath! Prepare to walk to parking garage and pay discount fee for parking as hotel guest. We recommend as a fab boutique hotel - can't wait to stay a 5th time soon! The internet rates have always been a tremendous NY bargain for us; and I did not smell smoke (Other comments on this site) on any of my visits to Cosmopolitan Hotel.

Great location. Within walking distance to everything. Clean rooms and good service. Subway not far from front door. Great food close by and very good night life.

Room reeked of smoke
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/19/07
The hotel is well situated for the sightseeing we had planned, BUT... one of the two rooms we occupied was an absolute ashtray -- the property allows smoking in all rooms, and, while our kids' room was simply musty, ours was beyond disgusting. They even came in to steam clean the carpets, but the ashtray smell permeated everything in the room -- the bathroom, the bedspread, the sheets, the drapes... it was disgusting. By the time we got up the next morning my eyes were red, my nose and eyes were running, and my mouth taste like ash. This is unfortunate, because the hotel is quiet, clean, and a true bargain for New York in terms of location and price. I would think long and hard about staying here again simply because of how repulsive this room was due to the smoking.

worst hotel i have ever stayed in
By catherine, 03/05/07
Although this hotel is in a great location, had wireless internet, and had a pretty lobby, this was the worst hotel that I have ever stayed in. There are no nonsmoking rooms available so if you have an allergy to cigarette smoke there is nothing that they can do. When I first entered the room, it was hot, stuffy and the air was thick from cigarette smoke. When I made my reservation and when I checked in, I told the hotel that I had a severe allergy to cigarette smoke. Their solution was spraying imy room with Glade. Furthermore, fumes from other smokers came into my room through the bathroom vents. The rooms were ridiculously small. It took five steps to get from the bathroom to my bed. The bathroom was even smaller. Only one person can fit in the bathroom at a time. The television stations were snowy. There were a group of us and although they booked 2 beds, they got singles. If your window faces the street, the constant sounds of fire trucks and police sirens will keep you up. There are no screens on the windows. The parking is NOT across the street from the hotel. The best part of the trip was that the elevator doors would not close so there were maintenance men in the elevators forcing the elevator doors closed. The pillows are fluffy but they are at a weird depth. Most of the people on the trip with me had stiff necks from the pillows.

Awesome Little Hotel
By Mason, 06/26/06
The Cosmo is right in there. The subway is right in front of it, Ground zer and the Finacial District is a 10 min walk away. The Cosmo is very well maintained and cleaned. THe staff, expecially Wagnor, are kind, and helpful. The would put the person on the phone on hold to take care of you first. THere is a little resturaunt next door called "The Soda Shop". Eat there, its excellent. Overall: A+ Will stay there again.

Great location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/03/06
The room was very clean but a little bit small. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We had a private bath (!) which was cleaned each day. 150 Dollar for double-bed room is expensive but "normal" for New York. The location is great with direct subway binding. 10 minutes walk to Ground Zero or Brooklyn Bridge and Starbucks in front of the hotel ;-) We will come back again.

Great place to stay if your on budget
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/01/05
I was pleased with the look of the hotel. It served my purpose it was a nice clean hotel not old looking at all, great price for New York, considering it is the oldest running hotel in New York. No problem with service. bed and sofa where comfortable i slept well.Great water pressure for your shower and lots of hot water. Air conditioning was a little loud and cigarette smell pass through the vent system. close to subway stops and my family took the red and blue lines and yellow lines without having to walk to far. Starbuck right outside and couple of nice small restaurants for breakfast near by. I will stay there again.

King
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/08/05
The rooms were small but were very clean. It was in the 90's when I stayed there but the window air conditioners worked very well, it was however kind of loud. I definintely will stay there again. Good value for its location.
