Consumers Beware of reservation policy

We had reservations and had to cancel them, which all occured the same day (December 24,2008). The hotel acknowledges that made the cancellation but will not return our reservation fees because they said first that we did not cancel before 4:00 P.M. (We didn't make the reservation until after 4:00 P.M. that day) and they also said that they acknowledged our cancellation and did not charge us, but Priceline.com charged us and we would have to take it up with them.
We checked with Priceline and they told us that Sleep Inn charged them the entire fee and would not refund our reservation fee.
The desk staff was rude and unfriendly, and called me HONEY at least ten times!
