At least they think they're good
I just got back and my view of this place is clouded by the cost. All those hidden charges, it's not funny now that the Canadian dollar is so strong. The restaurant Elements is just okay; there are not any first-rate restaurants in Halifax, and yet some do dare to exhibit perhaps a hint of pretension, for example Elements describes itself as "upcasual dining", which is a dumb word coining. But the staff at Elements were real nice, that was good. The air conditioner vents in our room were on the window sill, so if you close the shades, there is no air flow, a poor setup for sleeping. One night we ordered 2 beers from room service, no cooking involved, yet it took over a half-hour, somebody forgot. The location was good at the southern end of the Harbourwalk; they were filming a movie for the Lifetime TV network right nearby on the Harbourwalk, we saw Ricki Lake overact.
