Ups and Downs
By KatyM, 01/22/10
Check-in was a breeze and the staff was very helpful. The room was a delightful suprise. The beds were comfy and the layout well planned. I loved the little window in the bathtub. The little coffee maker made the mornings so much more delightful since we could rest in the room before our days began. Our room attendant, Mercedes, did a wonderful job. The slots were entertaining. I didn't see any big winners during our week stay. The Cafe offered big servings but the food at the Buffet lacked in taste. Everything tasted the same. I am not a big fan of buffets to begin with so I wasn't all that disappointed. The week was really most enjoyable until I entered the Invited Guest area to ask about any perts for using our cards. The lady at the desk was about the nastiest employee I have ever met in any hotel. Usually hotels will give something off the bill or perhaps offer a lunch or breakfast special... but this lady was out and out nasty. She was condescending. She looked at my record and stated sharply that in order for her to do anything we had to make 3000 points per day, each day of our visit. She let it be known we were mere middle class, hard working people and not the High rollers she must be use to. I can still hear her in my head today. It's a shame they trust such an important position to her. I didn't expect much but I certainly didn't expect to be treated like a pauper either. I guess you get what you pay for... In the future I would stay again(only because the rate was great) but would never ever use another card.

Love the Orleans
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/18/09
We have stayed at the Orleans several times and it would be our first choice again. The first few times, we had kids with us and there was plenty to keep them occupied - arcade, movies, theaters. The rooms are very spacious with everything you need. Our bed was VERY comfortable - I believe it was memory foam and was the most comfortable hotel bed we have ever had. The buffet is great and is reasonably priced. Check in took about 5 minutes. All the staff were friendly and everything we asked for we promptly received (more pillows, etc.). Definitely will stay there again.

Relaxing and I want to return again.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/11/09
We came to Vegas to celebrate our 37th wedding anniversary, which we try to do every year. We picked the Orleans out of many free night offers we received, because it was off the Strip and we knew how large the rooms were. Our room was not as large as the last one we stayed in, but it was still nice and clean. There were a few dishes in the hallway one night, but gone the next day. Our view was better this time. We could see the lights of the Strip, very nice. We played slots and video poker and some table games. Enjoyed it all! We have been looking for a casino to return to each time we come back to Vegas and very possibly the Orleans will be our pick. We like the places that are not too loud and the machines are spaced with plenty of room. We won enough money while playing to cover our eating and playing while there. All in all, we really enjoyed out stay at the Orleans. I hope you have as nice a time as we did.

Had a really great time!
By vegaskelly, 08/26/09
We just checked out this morning from our five night stay at The Orleans. We booked the place because we didn't want to stay on the strip, nor did we want to stay downtown and we also wanted other "things" to do besides gamble. This place fit the bill We got a nice sized room for 18 bucks on the weeknights and the value was outstanding! The hotel has an arcade, a movie theater and a bowling alley in addition to it's many restaurants and gambling options. It offered a nice change of pace when we didn't want to lose money to the one armed bandits. This trip was unusually busy for us so we actually didn't get to partake in the bowling or even the pool but we did fit in a couple of arcade games, a movie and I treated myself to a spa treatment or two. :-) The Prime Rib Loft was the pleasant surprise of the trip. It is a very upscale seeming restaurant with no dress code and reasonable prices. The prime rib was THE best we had ever had. It was so nice we had to go there twice, and while the wait staff left something to be desired on our second visit, the food was still tops! Can't really comment on the machines since we didn't gamble as much as we normally do but in the gambling we did do, we were only down about 50 bucks for the trip. Staff overall was friendly and helpful. The fitness center is equipped with several treadmills, 3 ellipticals, 2 stair climbers, 2 recumbent bikes and one regular stationary bike as well as all the stations you will need for weight training. The spa was wonderful. They give you a 20% off coupon when you check in so I was able to put that towards one of my treatments. The lady that gave my massage was a little bit chatty but the facial afterwards was silent bliss. :-) I would recommend this hotel for sure and might have to stay there again when we make our annual trek next year.

Going back in Sept
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/09/09
We love the orleans the rooms are very nice and the cater to there guests . The buffet is great. But the best kept secret in Las Vegas is The PrimeRib Loft in the Orleans. The food there is as good or better than any of the fancy chef resturants on the strip and I have eaten at a few of them..Emerils is good but the PrimeRib Loft is the best.

Great Tidal Wave of Sewage "Stank"
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/21/09
My only hotel experience that was even comparable to my stay at the Orleans was in a tiny village high in the Peruvian Andes 35 years ago. But the Orleans is worse--at least the place in Peru wasn't pretending to be anything other than what it was, and it didn't have the signature ORLEANS HOTEL SEWAGE "STANK." This place is literally built on top of a ginormous septic tank! I wondered how my room could SMELL SO EVIL. Then I encountered two hotel employees in an elevator, and both of them were coughing and holding their shirts up over their noses. "It's really bad today," one of them said. "Yeah," the other replied. "They really need to pump that thing out." I had to go down to the eye-burningly smoky casino to get some "fresh" air! The only reason I stayed here at all is that I was registered for a conference, and the organizer chose this hotel. It was all arranged back in the spring, so by the time I checked in and discovered that I was booked into SEWAGE HELL, it was impossible to find a room anywhere else in Vegas. In fairness, though, the hotel does offer amenities. Want high-speed internet in your room? Be prepared to pay for it through your already abused nose. As an alternative, you can visit the so-called business center (access to it is included in your $5 per day "resort fee") and surf the web for 10 whole minutes per day. Need to print a boarding pass? Better do it between 9 and 5, because the "business center" shuts down at 5 p.m., even though ACTUAL business operates 24/7 these days. But if the "business center" is closed, you can pay a minimum of $5.95 to print your boarding pass on one of the kiosks you'll find here and there around the hotel. Oh wait--half the keys are missing from the keyboards, so you may find it tough going. Room service? No problem. When you finish your meal, just set your tray outside your door. (The housekeeping staff certainly won't touch it--or much of anything else.) And once you've put your tray out in the hall, the staff will kindly let it sit there for 24 hours, just in case you or someone else should want to snack on the leftovers. But never mind--just relax and settle back for the night between your flimsy, scratchy, TORN sheets, and delight in the excitement of being alternately blasted with cold and hot air. If you get too warm, walk over to the bathroom sink (wearing shoes, to protect your feet from whatever caused those greasy stains on the carpeting) and splash your face with cold water. Just don't expect the water in your sink to drain--ever. I paid around $90 a night (average of 3 weeknights and 2 weekend nights) to sleep in a sewage miasma. If that suits your tastes, then by all means stay at the Orleans Hotel and Casino. Otherwise, AVOID THIS TOXIC WASTE DUMP at all costs. I came home, took a long hot shower, and washed or dry cleaned every item of clothing I had with me. But I don't think the memory of the Orleans "stank" can ever be eradicated.

The best value for a great time!
By Heidi, 06/30/09
I have stayed at the Orleans about 5 or 6 times. We loved that the hotel had all of the eating and tables/slots, but it was small enough that we didn't feel lost. I have stayed a few times on the strip, but would perfer to stay at the Orleans. The rooms are okay, but who has time to stay in their rooms when you're in Vegas. Black Jack tables are reasonable and the dining is great!
