IT IS A GHETTO STYLE
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/17/10
the place gets so congested, people with children do not control them, they just go touch the food and then put it back. I liked the staff, they were great, customer service is great. The buffet was good the first two days, but the flies made it horrible, same food over and over. the entertainment group very boring, they keep on repeating other people songs. The only part i enjoyed is when the guests took the stage to dance, that was awosome. the towels were full of stainsssssssssssssss!!!!!! mould in the bathrooms. the house keeper was great!!! this was not my choice when i was booking the ticket, agent just turned the reservation to this horrible hotel. there is no way i could have stayed in this hotel after reading the reviews. "caution" if u can read this do not stay at this hotel. It is horrible. the juta taxi staff are great, but if they take you to negril, they agree that you will stop at the shopping center, at the end they say no we need to go back. they just need to stick to what they tell tourists. if you want to really have a good time, please go somewhere else pay more and you will remember jamaica for the rest of your life. but not this hotel.

dont waste your money
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/31/05
the staff were the worst i've experienced so far. out of 100 staff members we tried to interact with, only about 5 showed any interest to help us. They made it very clear that they do not like americans. The hotel was clean, however the main restaurant was not airconditioned. it was nearly impossible to eat breakfast, lunch, or dinner in 100 degree heat. NOt that the food was worth consuming. We didnt have cold water or an electric outlet in our bathroom. Our bed felt like they took a boxspring and put sheets on it. the pillows were flat as pancakes. we used 3 to equate to one normal pillow. the a/c blew cool not cold air and made a loud noise until my husband rigged up something in the middle of the night to fix it. At 7 am , the construction workers were out front making a bunch of noise, so forget about sleeping in. They told us that the water park would be open long before now, and it is no where near competition. It looks very fun, but it definetly wont be open until the fall. The 2 specialty restaurants were excellent. the service, food, atmosphere,a/c, were all very good. But it was very hot and the only place to get out of the heat was your room ( which ours wasnt cool) or the gift shop. Every where else was open and smoltering. The people at the airport were the absolute rudest people we have ever met. they dont have customer service skills at all!!! They holler at you, ignore you, treat you like your crap. I would only recommend jamaica if you dont mind feeling like they dont want you there. They dont acknowledge you standing there and you can tell they see you. just straight up ignorant. I've heard Negril and Ochos Rios is nice. But getting through the airport without killing somebody, getting harassed for money, being sold drugs, or lord knows what , is all a challenge. I'll stick to someplace where the people like tourists and are happy to help you. THe resort needs much sprucing up. New pool chairs , they're falling apart and faded, new snorkel equipment ( ours kept filling up with water), plumbing worked on, you definetly need water shoes to go into the beach water. the sand is very rocky and pebble-y, and the jelly fish were everywhere. The sad thing is this place was on Oprah a few years ago and she gave it great reviews. they must have put little to no effort into it since then. THe tour directors messed up our tour to Sea Trek. THey told us to meet the bus at 9:30am, at 9:15 they said we missed it, that it left at 9:00. So we had to miss that, than later on we did a tour that advertised $53/person for 25 minutes walking under water and touching different sea creatures and 1 hour to snorkel, then our bus picks us up to take us back to sunset beach. Nope, after the 25 min. walk, they told us to go to the street and wait for our driver. no snorkeling!!! They wouldnt refund any money. Very unorganized and false advertising. i could go on about the stuff that happened on this vacation. We were extremely disappointed. Also, a little kid vomitted in our pool and do you know, no one came to clean it for over an hour.. nasty!!!

Worst experience ever
By Bernardo, 11/5/05
This place is a run down hotel. Paint is chipping through out the whole place, there was no water pressure in the shower. Bugs all over your room, that crawl on you while you try to sleep. Service from the hotel staff is slugish at best. Overall in this area I would expect to pay $75 for this type of hotel and service I recieved here. Wasn't worth the price at all. It completely put a damper on our vacation.

Went When I Was 6!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/27/10
I went when I was only 6 and enjoyed an all inclusive stay! My grandmother was always trying to tell my sister and I that we didn't have to pay for food while we watched others hand over what they owed. Every day we had countless strawberry daiquiris! I was so little, but there was so much to do! Mini golf, all the pools, and the beautiful white sanded beach. The water was amazingly clear although I never got the change to go in it!

Not for experienced travelers!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/2/07
First time travelers seem to like this all inclusive resort. But any experienced travelers will be very disappointed by this second class resort. I was very disappointed that the resort allows cruise ships at the port of Montego Bay use the grounds for the day. Thus, the pools and eating areas were very crowded with obnoxious and dirty people every day. The rooms were filthy dirty. People are constantly moving in the hope that the next room will be better. If you have ever been to a classy resort, you will hate the limited selection of food. I would rate the food as below average at best. They even ran out of food one night!! One couple I talked to had their valuables stolen by the help at the hotel. Certainly ruined their trip. Staff is unfriendly. I will definitely never visit this resort again. I've tried the Rui and Iberostar resorts and been very happy. Better luck next time.

Fire Safety Concerns
By Jacquie, 6/3/05
What I disliked about the hotel was carelesness in regards to fire safety. I was on the 10th floor of one of the two 10 story towers. I did a walk of the stairwells and found large maid untility cart blocking the entrance to the stairwells. I further looked to see if at least there was an alternate exit. THERE IS NO ACCESS TO THE ROOF in the event of a fire. The entire building only has two stairwells both on the same side of the building. When I let management know about the cart blocking the stairwell. They did nothing. It was not until I threatened to call the local fire marshall did they remove the cart. Then two days later it was back again. This tower has the main resort kitchens and resturants on the first floor. SORRY BUT THERE IS NO EXCAPE if the kitchen catches on fire. Lastly even though this is an all inclusive Hotel. You get nickle and dimed for everything. Example internet access. Also the drinks taste good but very little if any alcohol is in them.

Will never return!!
By Lisa, 5/7/06
My husband and I went to Sunset Beach for our honeymoon. We arrived around 1:00pm- check in is not until 3:00pm so we had to wait around for our room. Well, 3:00pm rolled around and still our room was not ready. We finally got into our "ocean front" room around 4:30pm. What a waste of our first day. Well, we proceeded to our ocean front room- what a let down. Our room was nasty! With all of the money that we spent to go to this resort, they should put some of it to use by fixing up the rooms. The beds were as hard as a rock!! The bathroom tub was chipping away with paint. Our sliding glass door to the balcony never shut all the way. To top everything else of-the key to our front door never worked so we had to keep going to the desk or find a maid to help us get in our room- what a pain!!! After traveling all day and being very tired, we tried to go to sleep early- around 10:30pm. Let me tell you, that was not about to happen. We were located on the second floor. They have some disco crap going on from 11:00pm- until 2:00am. We could feel the base and the LOUD annoying music all NIGHT!! Sleeping was not an option at this crappy resort. Finally, after two days of not getting any sleep, we moved our rooms to the 10th floor. Still, not any better. The disco music is played too loud and it pretty much shakes the entire building. If you are planning to go this resort, DO NOT stay in Towers A or B. You will be VERY DISAPPOINTED unless you like this type of music and don't plan on going to sleep until 3:00am every night. We decided to cut our honeymoon short. We ended up leaving two days early because of our let down with this resort and because we were lacking a good nights sleep. Overall, I do not recommend going to this resort. Next time, I will pay more and go to a Sandals.
