Stay somewhere other than Salida...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/21/11
We stayed all over Colorado; in beautiful, quaint places that were much more affordable. We vowed to never stay in Salida again after giving it a second try.

I will never stay here again !!
By Suzanne, 9/5/08
My husband and I stayed here for a Duathlon over the Labor Day Holiday. The price was $109.99 for a shoe box that smelled like turpentine from their chosen cleaning supplies. I was willing to overlook this until the owners/inn keepers attitude and rudeness. The continental breakfast is located in the main lobby and the food is shoved in the corner which spans about 4 feet by 4 feet. People are crawling over each other to get the crumbs and scraps that they call "breakfast," Horrible...never again.

Salida fall color tour
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/11/05
We stayed at the Econolodge again. This time, we went on a fall color tour. First, we spent a day driving along the Aspen Ridge. It is a dirt road that runs through the backcountry from Salida to Trout Creek Pass. Easy to drive, in almost any vehicle, a few ruts and rocks to avoid. Then we drove from Salida to Marshall Pass to Sargents and then back to Salida on Monarch Pass. Both drives had spectacular aspen colors. The first week of October seems like the perfect time for Aspen drives around here.

Nice motel on the edge of town
By Monarch Guy, 8/9/05
This is a nice quiet motel on the edge of town. Set off the highway, with no other motels nearby. A short walk to 7-11 for snacks. Good parking and clean rooms. There are also suites here, we will get one of these next time. Outdoor hot tub was great, but summer is too hot to sit in a hot tub.

Nicely located motel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/18/05
We were in town for three days of snowmobiling and fishing, which were great. We stayed at the Econo Lodge for three nights. Good price, and quite rooms. Right next to a great Mexican restaurant, and near 7-11 for snacks. Too many people in the hot tub, but otherwise, a great place. The free internet stuff could make it easy to work a bit on vacation.
