Very disappointed in the Fairway Inn
As a travel writer, I look for the great values. We had read on this site that this hotel was nice and a great deal. We when we called we were told they only had one room left for when we wanted to stay.
The room was $99, which is more than we would generally pay for a room, but since we were told it was an efficiency with a stove and refrigerator, we agreed to it.
Bottomline, we were very disappointed in the room, based on the price. The room was very small, the bed was soft, and all the furniture, dishes, pots, and the TV were all straight from Goodwill. The linens were thin and felt like they were 20 years old.
We didn't receive fresh towels every day, and the room was dirty - it was so small it would almost be difficult to get a vacuum into it.
It has couple of nice features: it's outside of town and has some nice views (compared to in town), and its hot tub and pool are new.
We expressed our disappointment to management, and they were not willing to make a change - just an offer to reduce our rate by $20 a night on our next stay. That would have made this a $79 room, but at it's best, this room shouldn't cost more than $59 a night - and that would be if everything it in were replaced with hotel-grade furniture, and nice linens.
Sorry - we wouldn't go back to the Fairway Inn if we were given free rooms.
