Sea Spray Inn, Vero Beach

We liked the atmosphere compared to the chain hotels we stayed in getting to Florida. It isn't perfect as some things need updating. The units are equipped with refrigerators and stoves so it makes staying here easier than other places without those. Sea Spray Inn has pet-friendly rooms, which is one reason we chose to stay here. The new owners are working on things and I suspect they have plans to do more upgrades. The stoves are older apartment-style units that really need changing. The location is great as you are right next to the beach overflow parking. You also have 4 restaurants within walking distance. The pool is on the smaller side but certainly nice to have when its hot and you don't want to go to the beach. I just wish I knew of other places like this on my route to the North so I could skip the big chains. If you stay more than a week the rates get more reasonable. Ask for a deal and you may get one if they aren't full. The more people find out about this place the less that will happen. If we come back next year we will stay here again. I had the pleasure of staying in an efficiency in the spring of 2008 and even though I was not expecting the Waldorf Astoria, I found the accommodation to be homey and comfortable, the staff genial and obliging and the area most delightful

We've been her for a few years but this year we had a room that was in need of some major remodeling. The bathroom floor was missing grout in most areas, the kitchen sink did not have cold water, the air conditioner was in one room so the bedroom did not get air conditioned unless you cranked up the ac in the one room making that room too cold. We had a larger unit that the bedroom needed to have the holes in the walls (curtain rods, etc.) repaired, area around window repaired and painted. The outside of the refrigerator was rusted over the entire top. I'm not sure if this is the only room that needs remodeling but the inn is in a great location, staff is great and very friendly. The units we've had in the past years were fine; nothing fancy. The price is great but remodeling is really needed in the unit we were in.

Although this cute little place does not have the amenities of a full-scale hotel, they are not missed. The staff is friendly, the rooms are clean, and the location is just steps from the beach. Most importantly, the rates are very reasonable.
