great location!
By DCL, 1/17/07
The Amsterdam Court Hotel is perfect for a couple looking to have a great time in Manhattan for a little less then other hotels. The rooms are very small, but I found them to be quite adequate for two people, even when I had the ironing board out there was still enough room for my girlfriend to move about. The really good thing about this hotel is it is sooooo close to everything! We walked to our Broadway play in about 5 minutes, and both the yellow and red lines of the subway are just steps away so access to the rest of the city is at your fingertips. All this for just 130 a room, I call that a really good deal!

Would definitely go back!
By JoBeth Wampler, 10/20/06
We stayed at the hotel for a week. The location is perfect - just a block or two away from Times Square and a few away from Rockefellar Plaza. It's perfect for people who don't plan on staying in the hotel all day. The only thing we didn't love was the space. There wasn't a lot of it around the room and especially around the bathroom. You could literally rest your head on the sink while seated on the toilet. But, I didn't mind that at all. We didn't ask for any help with directions and such from the staff, so I couldn't comment on that. For its location and for those only interested in a nice, safe place to sleep, it's great. We would definitely go back and hope to soon!

Pleasantly surprised!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/3/06
My friend and I LOVED this hotel! Was a little worried after reading some of the reviews, but I have no complaints other than the slow elevators! Amazing location, great price, gorgeous hotel room! Very modern and trendy furnishings and colors. View of the abandoned warehouse next door wasn't all that great, but I wasn't there for the view from my room! Would DEFINITELY stay there again.

Great Location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/10/06
My partner, (and I), along with our two best best friends stayed at the Amesterdam Court Hotel for 6 days (July 31 - August 6). Here's what you need to know - (Based on my experience) 1. The rooms are SMALL. These are not family friendly rooms, if you are planning to bring kids, be prepared to deal will a rollout bed in a small room, I guarantee, you will lose your mind. 2. You cannot beat the location if you are doing a theater trip, it's pretty fabulous and near the subways if you want to do some sight seeing, I repeat, you cannot beat the location. 3. If you plan to spend a lot of time in your hotel room, DO NOT CHOOSE THIS HOTEL, these rooms are for sleeping only and really, If you are visiting New York, why would you need to spend time in your room? 4. If you are high maintenance (and you know who you are) DO NOT CHOOSE THIS HOTEL. The Amsterdam Court id growing and there are some things that need to be worked out, but the staff was helpful and friendly, there was plenty of hot water for showers and the rooms were clean. 5. Problems I encountered - There were a couple of days that the phone didn't work, there were no windows in our room (Which made you think that it was ALWAYS dark), and our particular room (223) has a big gap under ther door, which makes for you being able to hear all the noise in the hallway. But in all honesty, I would stay there again., because all I need to do in NY is sleep! I do recommend this hotel, just not for families.

\"Small\" is an understatement!
By Andrea M, 6/24/06
The hotel is overprized! We paid almost $200.00 for a shoe box! The room was tiny! The only good thing about this hotel is the location.

Beware.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/24/06
We just returned from a weekend at the Amsterdam Court Hotel in NYC. This hotel is less than desireable to say the least. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful upon check in, however it went downhill from there. The room we were given had a broken toilet. We only found this out upon flushing. It was totally disgusting as a bunch of #2 came up in our toilet. It wasn't even ours. We went down to the front desk to let them know it needed fixing. We were leaving for a play and dinner and could not wait around to ensure it got fixed. When we got back after midnight, 6 hours later, it still wasn't fixed and the room smelled something awful. We went downstairs and raised hell with the front desk clerk. He tried to put us in a smaller room where the only thing that fit in the room was the Queen bed. We demanded another room with a King bed. We were finally given one after much discussion and arguing. At least in the new room, we couldn't hear the music from the bar downstairs. To make things even worse, on the second night, we were laying in bed when we heard rustling in a grocery bag we had sitting on the floor. When we turned on the light, we saw a mouse scattering under the bed. Needless to say, we didn't get much sleep that night either. To be fair, the hotel's location is amazing. Right in the heart of the city. Walking distance to almost everything. And it appeared to be clean minus the rodent problem. The bar downstairs has great martini's during happy hour.

BETTER THAN ANTICIPATED
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/17/06
After reading some reviews on this hotel I was a little leary of what to expect. I had a FANTASTIC time. The hotel rooms were a little small, but quaint, cozy, and very very clean. The room service was excellent, the hotel staff were very nice and they all took heed to your needs as a guest. I would definitely stay again soon as a matter of fact. The bar attached to the hotel had great appetizers, great drinks, great staff, everyone at the hotel was friendly. The bellman took his time to explain in detail anything you needed to know about. I never felt rushed or as if I was intruding on someones time. I'LL BE BACK!!!

Convenient, clean & comfortable
By John, 3/3/06
No raves, but a pleasant stay. Room was clean, reasonably spacious for an affordable place, and comfortable; staff were pleasant and helpful, nice lounge, and very close to theaters and good restaurants.

What do you expect?
By Jeremy and Teresa, 2/19/06
I really liked the place. We knew by reading the information that the room would be small (euopean style rooms) and we were ok with that. After all we were in New York City, who wants to spend much time in the Hotel room!!!!! It was very clean and the staff was very nice. The cappuccino bar they advertise is nothing to get excited about. As a matter of fact, that's the only complaint I have about our stay there. The location was FANTASTIC!!! We were able to go and do so much while we were there b/c the location made it possible. Times Square and Rockefeller Center are just a few blocks from the hotel and there is a subway station just around the corner. I would definately stay there again if we get to go back and would recommend it to anyone who is not looking for something spacious, but nice.
