10 reviews for The Lucerne, New York City
The Best!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/18/07
We are a family of three... two adults and a 12 year old. We stayed at The Lucerne for seven days. Our stay was perfect. The accommodations were spacious, quiet, clean and lovely. The hotel is on the residential Upper West Side. We had an end room on the 5th floor. The retaurant, Nice Matin, is excellent and the neighborhood is filled with good restaurants. The subway entrance is just a block away. Central Park and the Natural History Museum are just two blocks away! We would not consider staying any where else. The staff was gracious and met all of our minor requests with ease.

Awesome
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/18/07
It was luxurious and the staff were friendly and cordial. The hotel was very clean and well furnished. When I walked into the room, I flopped onto the bed and screamed inside.

Great Location
By AnneS, 07/03/06
This was our first visit to New York and was surprised at the cost of hotels. Nevertheless, we enjoyed our 7 day stay at The Lucerne. We had an outside room which was rather noisy. Comfortable bed. The best thing about the hotel is the location, one block to the subways, close to Central Park and the River. We enjoyed the neighborhood and had no trouble finding wonderful restaurants. Try the Silk Road Palace on Amsterdam. Great food, free wine and low prices. We ate breakfast at the Nice Martin and were disappointed in the service and food. We walked everywhere or took the subway so it didn't matter that we were not near Time Square. We wanted to be in more of a neighborhood. Front desk personnel were helpful with any directions or service needed. Would highly recommend this hotel.

We loved the Lucerne!!!
By Margaret, 12/19/05
All of the staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms are really nice; they are clean. We had a wonderful stay at the Lucerne. We loved the little neighborhood around the hotel, too. The subway is nearby. We walked across Central Park to the Metropolitan Museum. We liked the location just fine.

It Was Worth $64,000!!
By Gayle, 08/27/05
I stayed at The Lucerne when I was a contestant on "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" (where I would have won $125,000 if I had the guts to go with my first instinct). This was my first trip to New York City, and a "greener" tourist you probably won't find. The staff was so helpful! They recommended restaurants, made reservations, gave advice and taught me how to hail a taxi. The Lucerne is close to affordable shopping and restaurants. When I became brave enough to take the subway, it was close to that, too! Thanks to The Lucerne for making my first trip to New York so great!

My husband and I spent our 30th Wedding Anniversary in New York City, my husband did the research as to where to stay while in NYC and he picked The Lucerne, i'm glad he did, we enjoyed our visit to NYC and we plan on coming back for another visit in the future and plan on staying at The Lucerne, the staff and everyone else took very good care of us. 5 thumbs up
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/12/05
The Lucerne is on the upper west side, 2-3 blocks from Central Park. This is a really nice, reasonably priced hotel in a "quiet" part of NY City if you don't like the hustle and bustle of Times Square. The neighborhood is safe and there are several low priced restaurants within walking distance. Our room was huge with two double beds. We used the subway and bus to get around and the stops are within a block. Our maid did not speak English which posed a bit of a problem. Our room was at the back of the hotel which overlooked apartment backyards for the entire block. When the school children came home there was quite a lot of noise from them playing echoing from below, but otherwise a very quiet room. We were disappointed to find that the rooftop deck was closed for repairs, but they did have a computer room and a gym. I would definitely stay at the Lucerne again. The staff was very pleasant and we had a positive experience overall.

Nice Hotel in great location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/06/04
I love this hotel. I have stayed here several times over the years. The staff is friendly and helpful, the rooms are comfortable, nicely appointed, and very clean. The hotel is quiet on the upper floors I have stayed in and I had a view of the river on some of my visits. I was in an oversize room by NYC standards on every visit except one when the room size was average. The location is fantastic. There is a red line subway stop one block from the hotel. Central Park is just 3 blocks away and the Museum of Natural History is 3 blocks. There are several nice restaurants within walking distance. The hotel is one block from Zabar's, a must for taking home coffee and other wonderful treats. All in all, a great place to stay on the Upper West Side.
