overpriced resort of the year
By ,
We stayed in a spa room it was dirty, stains on carpet and walls, broken taps shabby carboards. It was furnished back in the 70s.It was also dirty outside, everything needs a complet overhaul.Needless to say the reception areas were lovely and modern this now needs to be carried on to the rooms.

Awful!!! Rydges ought to be ashamed of themselves!
By ,
There was nothing good about our stay at the Rydges Eagle Hawk Resort. Our first night we found dead silverfish in our bed. Spiders had also made their nest in the bed covers which looked like something out of the 70's, a real eye sore. Bugs were crawling everywhere including cockroaches, and we had to brush off beetles that felt the need to crawl all over us. The next day our bed was made minus the bed cover (which was left on the floor) and the pillows were dumped on our dirty underwear, and not back on the bed where they should have been placed. The complimentary shower caps, sanity bags etc were not replaced each day, and the shower fan was not working. This caused the fire alarm to activate, despite our attempts to stop it, it kept going. There was a huge crack in the glass shower screen, which was covered in clear contact. We reported this to reception and we were told "they are all like that". One of the two drinking glasses were cracked, and the soap holder in the shower was not fixed, and couldnt hold the soap. There were stains on the carpet. It is beyond me how this resort can call itself a 4 star resort, and charge the amount they do when its only worth $50 a night. On check out, the only thing we were asked was if we used anything out of the mini bar. We were not asked how our stay was. My partner and I are usually easily pleased, but this place was a total let down, a disappointment, and we will not be going back. Do yourself a favour and dont stay here!

The dirtiest place I ahve ever stayed
We booked this hotel as we had stayed at the Rydges in Swanston St Melbourne which was great. What a mistake. Obviously there is very little consistency in standards, especially regarding cleanliness. When we first arrived at Rydges Eagle Hawk our room looked quite reasonable and comfortable. After we had relaxed for a few minutes our son showed me his pillow which had blood like stains on it plus suspicious looking hairs. This prompted me to look further. The horrors that showed up were. Filthy coffee cups obviously not washed Dirty water glass in bathroom Dirty shower with soap scum all over the glass and tiles and a used bar of soap on the floor. Dirty toilet with hairs and apparent urine stains Dirty vanity Filthy tiles all around outside of shower Food wrappers in drawers Build up of dust on most things (obviously built up over time) I contacted reception and the duty person came and inspected it. He was most apologetic and offered to get us another room ready for when we returned from dinner and that he would check it personally. When we returned at 10.00 we were allocated a room that was admittedly a bit cleaner but came with a whole set of its own problems. The smell of chlorine bleach was overwhelming The had neglected to turn the heating on so it was freezing The carpets were stained The bathroom mirror had a huge crack through it The shower tiles were covered with mould I rang the toll free number to compain and was given another number to ring but there was no answer. I am 57 years old and this is the first time that I have bothered to complain about a hotel room but this was so bad I have to say something.

Ripoff

This place is a dump - an overpriced 70's motel room with a cheap makeover. Our bed sagged, the air conditioner was noisy, the spare pillows were dirty, the sofa was dusty, the main light didn't work and the bathroom renovation was very poor. They lost our reservation for a 2br apartment and stuck us in a queen room and only refunded $20. Don't stay here, it's not worth what they are charging

great value, worth returning for!
By ,
The grounds are well kept and buildings newly renovated. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Apart from a few small problems eg a couple of spiders in the room and the toilet stopped flushing once, it was a perfect stay and the problems were dealt with within 15 mins of us reporting them. The room was very nice, facilities excellent-with free use of pool, spa, sauna, pool table, tennis courts etc. Restaurant was gorgeous and by being a rydges priority member it was a cheap very nice dinner (delicious wood fired pizza) with cheap drinks. It was a very relaxing and comfortable stay which was wonderful and extrememly affordable. Even though it was 10-15 mins out of the main part of town the resort itself more then made up for it, as I have stayed closer in town for alot more then i paid for this resort and didnt get nearly the same service! I would certainly be retuning asap and would recommend this resort to all!
