Expected a room, not an attic refurbishment.
We have stayed here before, with a satisfied experience. This time around, however, we were extremely disappointed. Even on a Saturday night, with few rooms in the area available, I would not expect to be charged twelve short of a Franklin for the type of room we got. The room was long and narrow, about 9 feet by 24 feet. Being tall, I had to avoid the outside wall of the room, or walk in a crouch. The small television, with it's grainy, snowy picture, was like a light at the end of a tunnel as one reclined on the low, almost pillowless bed. And when the air conditioning came on, the only choice to avoid the 15 mph artic blast pummeling the head of the bed was to pull the threadworn cloth that passed as a blanket over our heads and shiver with the anticipation of thermostat satisfaction, at which time the winter winds would cease, leaving the room in a stillness of quiet, ears numb from the ravages of the passing cold front and deafening cresendo of the blower. The only recourse was to shut the unit down, sleeping on top of the covers, catching fitful bouts of slumber as the night crept by. If you can imagine, two maintenance closets, with the wall between them removed, furnished with an oversized, inroom air unit, a 19 inch tv with reception reminiscent of 1960's rural living, and paying a price not far off prime rates, you can envision our stay. Other than all that, it was a wonderful experience.
