Step Back Inn, Aztec

The sheets were blood-stained and had pubic hair from someone else. The mattress on the other bed in the room was harder than a piece of plywood. I will never go back. Save yourself the trouble, depending on which way you're traveling, go on to Farmington or, better yet, Durango

Don't trust Yahoo Travel! The picture that is supposed to be Step Back Inn is actually a picture of the Mariott Courtyard in nearby Farmington, NM 15 miles away. The amenties listed are all wrong and the address is also wrong. Why would anyone use Yahoo Travel if they don't check the information they use. The actual Step Back Inn is located at 123 W. Aztec Blvd in Aztec NM 87410-3106 and is a great place to stay even though the rates Yahoo shows are wrong!

The Step Back Inn offers the hominess of a bed-and-breakfast with the easy access and privacy of a small hotel. Tweety Blancett, the industrious-gracious owner of the Step Back Inn, has maintained this wonderful small hotel in Aztec for a number of years at a standard on par with the best value in accommodations in the region. I stay here whenever I am in the region visiting family. She is often on the premises making sure things are working to her high expectations. And, there is nothing like waking up to the smells of warm fresh home-baked breakfast rolls she throws in on the deal. (She should know how -- Tweety was my bachelor-survival (home-econ) teacher in high school). The Blancetts are long-time ranchers in the area. Tweety's hotel offers, in fact, a "step back" in time. She has themed each room in tribute to different local ranching or farming families of earlier times, noted in the antique pictures in each room. A treat of a place, indeed.

Very homey and comfortable. All staff were extremely friendly and helpful. If you are looking for some history of the area, this is the place to go! Located off a main road, easy access, but not in a "clogged" area. Homemade Cinnamon Rolls are EXCELLENT. Beds comfortable, rooms very clean. Much like staying with family, that has superior guest rooms!
