Great Location. Hotels needs some TLC

The Great: Location! Beach is fantastic. Very close to various restaurants, cafes, shopping, etc.
The Good: Staff was friendly and attentive. Beds were comfy. Room was cool during the day. Pool area was very nice.
The not so good: The current condition of the rooms doesn't justify the high cost. The hotels has taken a steep dive over the last couple of years. For example: Our phone was broken the first day, the staff replaced it promptly. The toilet was clogged when we checked in, they again came promptly and fixed. The hot water handle on the sink was striped out and just hanging there. They would have to replace the whole fixture to fix this. There were 2 lights out in the bathroom. The railing on the balcony was so loose and shaky it didn't seem safe to lean on it. These are minor inconveniences but for how much they are asking guests to pay, you shouldn't have to continue to call maintainence throughout your stay. They just need to have a checklist they go through on a regular basis to make sure everything is safe and operational in each room. That sounds like hotel 101 to me. You can tell the hotel used to be a 5 star facility, but I would say its average in its current condition. Compare rates to other nearby hotels, like the Ritz-Carlton where you know you'll get what you pay for.
