Romae, to stay or not to stay....

We found that overall this hotel was spotless and well maintained. The staff appeared friendly. We were disappointed by our room as it was very small and the lighting both natural and electric was inadequate, the artwork however is interesting! We felt more towels (one bath towel between two of us) and pillows (one each) should have been provided. When we arrived the booking was incorrect and we were told it would be a single room, the reception staff did eventually offer to change this to a double which is why we think we ended where we did. At least we were able to buy a couple of beers from the fridge in reception - the 'bar' is in a very small room and we never found any staff there(or much in the line of drinks) so we didn't bother with it. The restaurants belonging to the hotel were excellent and the staff very welcoming. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food, which was cooked to perfection - try the steak you won't be disappointed. The continental breakfast however was average the choice remained the same thoughout the four days and at times the bread was stale.
The location is great for getting about as the metro line is just around the corner and central rome is easily reached (be careful of pickpockets whilst on metro - especially around colleseum area. We were uneasy about walking about at nite in this location particularly nearer the Termini - not a place you want to find yourself at night (our flight was delayed and we were there at 3am in the morning).
Would we go the Hotel Romae again - possibly -rarely have we been to such a clean hotel but we would only go if we were assured of a brighter and larger room.
