REALLY, Stay somewhere else
By Tony, 7/28/10
We should have listened to the previous review. Pretty much spot on. The breakfast was great, IF you like dozens of hard-boiled eggs and rancid dry cereal. There was one and only one dry bagel and one english muffin placed out. No jam or jelly. Watery juice. There is no cell phone service unless you drive several miles, but there is a pay phone outside. The wireless internet works only inside the breakfast room and not in your room. There was some coverage on the deck. The pretty deck in the picture that was hot, had plenty of mosquitoes and filthy, filthy tables and chairs. The air conditioning is a joke. Our room was well over 100 degrees when we checked in and when we returned after a day of hiking. The host slipped in and turned it off. The first night it took 4 or 5 hours to get cool enough to sleep without a wet towel. Ah, but there is a ceiling fan to drive the hot, hot air back onto the bed. The room was very dusty with a dirt grit. The whole place was marginally clean, with lots of little "please don't do this or that" notes. Like please use your towels over and over and don't expect clean ones even if you leave them in the tub like the note instructs. The towels were refugees from a car wash or someplace with harsh soap. Prison, maybe? The dirt probably comes from leaving the windows open to catch the hot breeze. The pillows were the slimmest that I've seen. Perhaps they are surplus from the county jail. We later discovered that there are many motels and hotels in Mariposa. Look harder, but don't stay here. The one upside is that it is quiet because it is many miles from a town, from any restaurant or store, but there is a gas station down the road and you can drive 8 miles in one direction and find a couple of restaurants or 20 miles in another direction and find several nice places to eat and a Raley's grocery store with great coffee shop and deli. We could have stayed at a Comfort Inn in Mariposa for half the cost and it is a pretty and pleasant quiet place on the hill away from traffic and within walking distance to restaurants. Overall, just not worth the money (which was a lot more than the price average shown on this page).

STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/3/09
NOT WORTH IT!!! My girlfriend and I really enjoy traveling to Yosemite. The trip is always about the park and little thought is put into the place we stay since we won't actually be there very much. Well this place makes us reconsider that plan for the future. The service was awful (the innkeeper disturbed our privacy and still hasn't refunded the "extra charges" that we shouldn't have been charged for), the room was a just a glorified hotel room, and the "breakfast" is your option of hard boiled eggs or a bagel. It's also inconveniently located to the park. STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!

Very satisfying family stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/31/06
We recently returned after a very satisified stay at Little Valley Inn. Going from hustle bustle of a city, we wanted to have a stay away from it and a setting in or close to the woods. We were a family of four with two kids (4 & 6) and stayed in the kitchen suite. It was very comfortable and spacious (considering Las Vegas hotels), clean with all the amenities including dishes, fridge, iron etc. The place has been maintained well although I wish they'd have hosed the decks prior to arrival. Breakfast was good and was comparable with what you get in a standard hotel like Holiday Inn. The beds and mattresses were comfortable and I slept without any problems. Bathroom was clean and well maintained. Owner of this place is very friendly and accomodating. We checked out almost an hour late than the check out time, as we had wrong checkout time in mind. But the owner was very accomodating towards it. Mariposa has a few nice restaurants and grocery stores that served well fro our stay there. Unfortunately no cell phone coverage at the inn but they do have a pay phone at the front desk. With kids, you can just explore the area in the woods behind and kids enjoy it. Will definitely recommend it for families with small kids as this inn and Mariposa is convinient for stay close to Yosemite.

a hidden jewel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/22/06
I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The memory foam mattress was extremely comfortable and my husband and I slept wonderfully. The room was spacious and the setting is in trees and a creek . Couldn't ask for a more serene setting. The location is convenient to Yosemite and restaurants. Breakfast was deluxe and even included fresh sliced melon! I would recommend this place to everyone!

Little Valley Inn
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/18/05
This is a nice clean place in an excellent spot near Mariposa and Yosemite. Don't stay too close to Yosemite or you'll find nothing to eat---stay closer to Mariposa and dine at the Red Fox. The Little Valley Inn is nice and cozy and highly recommended.
