Exudes charm and character

This hotel used to be the summer house of a Pakistani maharajah. It was built in the 1920's(?) as an enormous bungalow and reminded me of an English country cottage (after all, Simla was the summer capital of the British Empire).
We really enjoyed our stay at the Springfield Hotel in August 2004. It was the rainy season and unfortunately the roof leaked but we were quickly moved to another room. THe rain and low clouds also stopped us from enjoying the garden with its view over the Himalayas. However, the food and service were excellent. Location is in a suburb about 5 km from the centre of town. Would stay there again (but next time will avoid monsoon season).
