We're going back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/12/08
this hotel is in a quiet location but only 5 mins walk (if that and on a good path) into Alvor centre where there is lots of restaurants and bars. the Beach is private the rooms are spacious and airy the hotel is not for the rowdy but for those who like to enjoy a good holiday without the slobs the breakfast is good plenty of shaded areas in the grounds the rooms were veyr clean needless to say we are going back this year - 2008, more of a couples hotel than for families

Too many Flies on the food
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/4/07
Al in all the hotel is nice but the lack of food hygiene and by this I mean that the cold meats and puddings were not covered or protected in any way from the abundance of flies was not to be expected. I caught Salmonella last week when I was there and am suffering a terrible fate of sleepless nights and multiple lavatory trips. I would go again but never on a half board or full board basis again.

Our wonderful holiday in Alvor, Algarve
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/12/07
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Pestana Delfim Hotel for one week from the 26th July – 2nd August 2007 on a half-board basis. Our room was fantastic. The room and the bathroom were very clean; both were very well designed and decorated. We each had our own sinks in the bathroom, and the bathtub/shower area even had its own fancy lighting. Before our holiday, we requested a room with a double bed as opposed to a room with twin beds, and thankfully the hotel did arrange this for us. We did not arrange a room with a sea view but luckily we were on the 10th floor and we could still see the sea from our balcony. We both enjoyed our breakfasts and dinners in the hotel. The menus are pretty similar day to day but the hotel provides a wide range of different foods each time. Unfortunately though, our half-board basis did not cover our drinks at dinner time. The hotel has four lifts. However, two of the lifts are only accessible from the basement and the ground floor. So, the two other lifts were pretty crowded at breakfast time. It was very hot during our stay in the Algarve, so we arranged to have a fridge put in our room at a fixed cost of just 15€. The hotel provides a path that leads straight to the beach. However, sections of the path nearer to the beach are not paved down, and the path is quite steep. The majority of the guests in the hotel were families and older couples, so nights were peaceful in the hotel. However, on one night my boyfriend was kept up by the slamming of doors, but luckily I slept through it all. :) The hotel also provides a courtesy bus to Portimao. The bus arrives at the hotel at 9:45am, and there are two times the bus brings guests back to the hotel. The Alvor Village is about 15-20 minutes walk from the hotel. There is also a good availability of taxis outside the hotel. So if you miss the bus to Portimao or don’t want to walk to the Alvor Village, taxis are always available. During our stay in the Algarve, we went on two excursions arranged by Thomson. We went to Zoomarine in Albufeira and also went on a 4x4 day trip to the mountains of Monchique. Both were great day outs. The hotel provides a late checkout service, but charge 100€ for it. Luckily, the hotel also has a storage area behind the reception where suitcases can be stored. We enjoyed our holiday and our stay in the hotel very much and would definitely stay in the hotel again. We recommend this hotel to families and couples.

Just back from a week in the Delfim with the family and will return. Lovely room, lovely location, all amenities close by, lifts working at all times. Basically no complaints.

shame about the food
By K, 1/13/07
The hotel is situated in an fine location overlooking the Bay of Lagos and just a few minutes stroll downhill to a picturesque cove and a magnificient beach. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and centrally heated. The staff are courteous and friendly and always available to assist. However if you enjoy your food book elsewhere!

Thoroughly enjoyed my holiday in this hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/27/06
Very comfortable room but you had to pay for a fridge. It sometimes took a while to get to your floor in the lifts as the hotel has 16 floors. The hotel is close to an excellent beach and only 10 minutes walk to the centre of Alvor.I would reccommend this hotel to anyone.

A perfect place for a relaxing holiday!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/20/06
The hotel itself is modern, clean and well set out, it is set in a great location which was a 5 minute walk to the beach and a 15 minute walk into Alvor village. The food in the hotel was excellent, all the waiters were very friendly and the head chef was delightful. We would love to go there again and would recommend this holiday to anyone looking for a relaxing break.

my second home
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/12/06
i have been to the delfim hotel four years on the run. i adore the place. i am so excited this year as we are going for 2 weeks instead of our usual one. i would recommend getting around on local buses. its so cheap and you see alot of the island. we went to albuferia by local bus and loved it. the food is out of this world in both restaurants. i also loved swimming in the pool, and going in the gymnasium. we always get all our requests, which include top floor for the fantastic view, sea view and pool view. we like to go to sleep early so we can be up early and enjoy our day to the full, no problems getting to sleep its very peaceful.
