Whatcha lookin for? It's Eden, on Amstel.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/9/10
I have stayed there many times for the same reasons as others have listed: great value, cleanliness, location, and personable professional personnel with a desire to please. On only one stay did I have a room that was not up to the standards I am used to at this hotel but the situation was remedied to my satisfaction. Now under the general management of Thomas there have been some nice changes that have only made this good hotel better. I have read a few reviews on other sites that are not so favorable – due to small things – but checking the dates most were written prior to the arrival of Thomas as general manager, (the new Sheriff in town). I have always enjoyed Kees (pronounced case) the usual bartender (at least when I have stayed there) who is most entertaining and professional. The polite concierge staff are ready, willing and able to get done whatever you need as are the people that work at the front desk. I also enjoy the breakfast that is plentiful and tasty. Do not forget to have a meal at FLO, a most stylish restaurant with a French flair in the Eden complex. The location on the canal is very good with a great view near the Floating Flower Market. The proximity to Rembrandtplein is great for restaurants and access to the tram. There is a convenience mart right down the block (very nice owner) and a laundromat. And, the free (many hotels charge) internet access for guests, complete with computers, in the lobby is a great convenience for guests to keep in touch with the world. I have stayed at many hotels in Amsterdam and think this is one of the best and the one it seems that I keep returning to. 10 minute walk to Central station but, again, it's very close to tram and in a much quieter and nicer neighborhood than a lot of hotels.

The best you can do for the money!!!
By BILL, 1/7/08
Prime location on the Amstel River, right across from the Music theatre and just south of the Red Light District. Rembrandtplein and the trams are just a block south from the hotel, the subway station is also right across the river. The hotel was remodeled within the last couple years, the lobby and rooms are all updated, they're beautifully done and super clean. Save your money and just have a morning or evening coffee in the lobby, the menu is limited and overpriced, plus plenty of good food is just south of the hotel. The concierge will hold your luggage if you arrive before check-in, staff is friendly and as tolerant to Americans as the Dutch get. Elevator is super slow, take the stairs! The bed was really decent sized for an Amsterdam hotel. Overall I'd recommend it to anyone on a budgeted vacation!!!

Great Hotel - Highly Recommended
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/27/07
We stayed there twice. The first five days we stayed in room 310. Newly refurbished and very clean. Nice plasma TV and upgraded bathroom. Very small room even by Tokyo standards but we made due as this was one of their econony rooms. We returned seven days later and stayed in room 403. Five times larger and also newly refurbished with the same amenities. Not much of a view but again this was one of the economy rooms. Had breakfast once and it was adequate... nothing fancy. Would recommend going through the passage way to the sister 4-star Eden hotel and eat there. Higher quality indeed. The staff way great. Very friendly and helpful. The location was perfect. We will definately stay there again and would highly recommend it. to any budget minded traveler. Very close to the trams, many restaurants and five minutes walk to Rembrant Plein and Muntplein. Felt very safe walking the streets late at night. Safe in room for valuables.

Do not stay if you do not want unknown charges in your credit card.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/25/07
We stay in Hotel 6 nights in the middle of the March 2007. 1.5 month later we received the letter that charges was applied to credit card without our permition and without any explanation about charges. Be very careful, do not give credit card upon arrival or stay in another hotel. Good luck in beautiful city of Amsterdam.

Had a great time...
By Marinopics.com, 3/9/07
Stayed at the BW Eden back in March '04. My wife and I had a great time, we even tried to stay there in '05 when we went back but it was sold out. It's location is perfect. Right at a scenic bend in the Amstel River. Very peaceful surroundings. Yes, it's near a few "loud" clubs but the clubs start very late (after midnight) and they never struck me as a trouble making crowd. I'm 35 and maybe I'm not as annoyed but such things. The rooms were smallish but they were clean and quiet and thats all that matters to me. There's a lot to love about this city but I especially love how small it is. Walking from one end of the city to the other takes no more than an afternoon. Yet, you'll never be at a loss for things to do.

Would go there again- but..
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/29/06
It was disappointing that a Hotel that describes itself as a 3*superior hotel did not provide tea / coffee making service in the rooms. The staff were very helpful when asked for any information, but the room service was not so good, empty glasses were not removed, bathroom goods and bathmats not replenished or replaced. The location is excellent for walking into the city, but beware very noisy clubs nearby especially at 4.00 / 5.00am. Overall it is satisfactory value, - we would go and stay there again.

Dont Go
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/24/06
Tiny rooms not evan a drawer you have to pay upfront plus 50 euros deposit. When we left they tried to say we had not paid and we did not get our deposit back. A complete rip off

Hotel to avoid
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/24/06
Service was weird..Dutch people have a different perspective for humor.. Some times i felt i was annoying them of their siesta... Good location but not the only hotel good located.. Clean is definetely not their midle name.. Price is good regarding to what you compare it.. Defenately cheapest than Hilton but comparing to a hostel (that is their level of services..) expensive.. For sure they will see me again.... :) :)

Great location
By Vahan Y, 1/6/06
I just returned from Amsterdam, we enjoyed our time in Eden hotel. the location is great, you can go anywhere by feet in few minutes... you have the Rembrandt square right behind it, the flower market 5 minutes away, the new market 5 minutes away, the red light district 15 minutes away, the central station 15 minutes away... The rooms were clean and nice, the staff was very kind and professional... great breakfast!! The rooms were little bit small but that will not keep me away from staying in Eden hotel again!!!
