Whatcha lookin for? It's Eden, on Amstel.

I have stayed there many times for the same reasons as others have listed: great value, cleanliness, location, and personable professional personnel with a desire to please. On only one stay did I have a room that was not up to the standards I am used to at this hotel but the situation was remedied to my satisfaction. Now under the general management of Thomas there have been some nice changes that have only made this good hotel better. I have read a few reviews on other sites that are not so favorable – due to small things – but checking the dates most were written prior to the arrival of Thomas as general manager, (the new Sheriff in town).
I have always enjoyed Kees (pronounced case) the usual bartender (at least when I have stayed there) who is most entertaining and professional. The polite concierge staff are ready, willing and able to get done whatever you need as are the people that work at the front desk. I also enjoy the breakfast that is plentiful and tasty. Do not forget to have a meal at FLO, a most stylish restaurant with a French flair in the Eden complex.
The location on the canal is very good with a great view near the Floating Flower Market. The proximity to Rembrandtplein is great for restaurants and access to the tram. There is a convenience mart right down the block (very nice owner) and a laundromat. And, the free (many hotels charge) internet access for guests, complete with computers, in the lobby is a great convenience for guests to keep in touch with the world.
I have stayed at many hotels in Amsterdam and think this is one of the best and the one it seems that I keep returning to.
10 minute walk to Central station but, again, it's very close to tram and in a much quieter and nicer neighborhood than a lot of hotels.
