Carnival at Gritti Palace
Ever since watching Woody Allen's "Everybody Says I love You", I wanted to go to Venice and stay at Gritti Palace. The Gritti Palace hotel is a proud part of Luxury Collection of Starwood Hotels (owner of Sheraton, W, Westin chains) and offers luxury and glamour in this magnificent palazzo. I was completely satisfied with my stay at the hotel, my room was up to Luxury Collection standards- with a special mention on the antique furniture, Italian marble, and Murano chandaliers. Staff was very helpful and kind. What I liked the most about the hotel was the location. It is situated on the Grand Canal, walking distance to San Marco Square, Peggy Guggenheim Museum, Rialto Bridge. From our spaciou corner suite room, we had the view over the canal and the church on the little square. As we stayed there during the carnival, we were delighted to see many carnavalgoers in their costumes and masks- at the lobby, in front of the hotel, and mostly around Santa Maria del Giglio vaporetto stop. As Venice offers many choices for dining, we did not try hotel's restaurant, but it seemed to offer a very refined menu. I would definitely go back to Gritti Palace and stay there again.
