This is a beautiful hotel. From walking through the door to being shown to your lovely room, you feel like a million dollars!
We booked a superior room, which looked onto a quiet side street, everything was perfect, although there was work being carried out at the hotel at the time we were there, it did not bother us at all.
All the downstairs staff were super, but one incident did disappoint me.
The cleaner of our room took away my nightdress along with the sheets(which were changed daily), so when we came in from a long days sightseeing I noticed straight away. I rang Housekeeping who told me they would be sending me replacements as the nightdress would not be back until the following day, imagine my digust when they offered me two pairs of USED mens pyjama's, that a guest had left behind the year before!!
I was astonished that a five star hotel, for which we had paid over £2,500 to stay at had the nerve to offer a guest such a shoddy substitute.
My husband went down to the lobby and saw the lady under manager, who, when told of this treatment was as disgusted as we were, and immediately asked us to go out and buy a new nightdress and they would pay for it. Fortunately, the shops were still open so we went to the nearest department store and I bought a new nightdress, we showed the receipt to the manageress, and she straight away refunded the money.
On returning to our room, there was a bottle of red and white wine waiting for us as a way of apology, which we thought was very nice considering it was Housekeepings fault.
So, all in all it was a lovely hotel, and apart from this blip, everything was first class.
The breakfast was excellent with lots of choice and nothing too much trouble for the waiters.
Munich itself is very expensive, train travel is really dear, but some super shops and a ladies paradise, If you have plenty of cash!!
We enjoyed our stay, but would not visit again.
