Sylter Hof -Avoid the Noise
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/25/05
I saw a number of good reviews for this hotel. I was excited to spend three nights at the facility. The location is very good and the room was clean. Unfortunately, even after asking for a room away from the noise, the clerk was bound and determined to put me on the fifth floor with a room overlooking (hearing) the street, which is very busy until 3am. Add a big party Friday night by a bunch of university students (until 4 am) and the staff that made no effort to correct the situation, this is a hotel I will avoid in the future. If you decide to stay at the Sylter, use the X9 bus from Tegel to the Zoologischer Garteen stop then board the 100 to the hotel. Or walk to the hotel and you pass in front of the Tourist Office (very helpful). The 200 bus takes you right to the Philharmonic and to the numerous excellent museums. The Pergamon and the Gemaldegalerie are must see museum/galleries. Great city and wonderful people. Close to the hotel are a couple of good restaurants (seafood and argentinian). There are so many wonderful hotels to chose from, force this outfit to give you a good and quiet room.
