Description

More so than most hotels in the city, the Bayerischer Hof has a fascinating history. It was built in 1840 by King Ludwig I's architect Maffei to provide first-class lodgings for visitors to the nearby palace. The Montgelas Palace, which the hotel bought in 1969, was initially a Minister's residence and later became the seat of the royal administration. The Hotel Bayerischer Hof offers an excellent variety of different room styles, which include cosmopolitan, traditional Bavarian, or classical in the style of the Montgelas Palace. Within the hotel, three restaurants meet all of your needs. The Garden and Atelier offers quality cuisine with contemporary international dishes, Trader Vic's serves Polynesian specialties, and the Palais Keller offers traditional Bavarian food. The Bayerischer Hof Night Club is one of Germany's top jazz venues.

First Class Service
By ,
We stayed at this luxurious hotel during our Christmas break. The service was beyond excellent! The staff tried to accommodate us as much as possible with our 2 young children. This is a true landmark in Munich and I highly recommend staying here when visiting Germany. This hotel has a lot of history.

Avoid at all costs
By ,
This hotel looked beautiful from the outside and from their website. The lobby was nice but that is where it ended. Our room was a wreck with missing wood trim, leaking refridgerator, and furniture that was in terrible shape. We booked a summer package that included a 4 course dinner for 2 in the garden restaurant. Drinks were not included and we had 2 bottles of mineral water and the bill was $30.00 just for the water. The food was average with terrible service and 4 hours into the meal we had still not received desert. After asking about desert 3 times and waiting for an hour we finally asked for our bill and left. The dinner package is a scam as you can eat much better outside the hotel for substantially less. The dinner is supposedly included but the price of beverages is 2 to 3 times what any restaurant in the area would charge and you have to ask what drink prices are as they are not listed on the menu. If the 2 of us had each had 2 glasses of wine and a cup of coffee in addition to the 2 bottles of water our bill just for drinks would have been over $75.00 just for a few beverages. We had booked 4 nights at this hotel but left after 2 and moved to a different hotel. AVOID THIS HOTEL UNLESS YOU LIKE TO WASTE MONEY!!!!!!!!!!

It's unbelievable! It's the best hotel I've ever seen.
By ,
I an never forget my trip to Munich beause of this classy hotel. It's luxuries and great. My room was totally differnet than what i thought it would be, it was even better than what they put on their site on the internet. It was very big and roomy, cleen, having all the needed appliances and realy something to be proud of. The service was excellent, the restaurants are great and have much variety of food. It was very neer to most of the important places we visited. During our stay, Michael Jackson (a famous singer was there) and it was tremendous. It's the hotel of the VIPs only!!

tiny rooms, great facilities & location
By ,
Where the heck was the rest of my room? My 'single room' was smaller than most on a ship and was not very well equipped nor luxurious. What little space available was filled with a useless, oversized chair. The facilities like the pool and spa were excellent as was the location. But none of this could make up for the ridiculously tiny room. This is the fourth hotel I've stayed at in the area and its the only one of the 4 that I wouldn't recommend.
