Penta Hotel Trier Europahalle, Treves

The hotel is NOT meant to be a boutique type hotel, so if that is what you are expecting, you'll be disapointed. Its a modern, kind of minimalist yet comfortable hotel. The rooms are an average size, but have nice appointments such as 32" lcd tv, large windows, good workspace. The bathroom is spacious, with a large tub and large rain style shower head. The colour scheme is interesting, yet quite modern while having a throwback or retro feel, without feeling rundown or outdated. Check in is located at the bar, which is immediately presented upon arrival. It is an upscale modern feel, with offset sitting areas located throughout the main floor. A large selection of beers and alcholic beverages, as well as a thorough list of coffee type beverages. Breakfast is included in the price. It was a modest buffet with eggs (fried, boiled and scrambled) bacon, large selection of fresh baked breads and pastries, along with fresh fruit, cereals and all the associated trimmings. Again, it fits in line with the hotels price and personality. Very good. The service was average at best, but then again I am english speaking patron. Their english skills far exceeded my German, so I was pleased none the less. Overall, I liked this hotel quite a bit. Its not a 5 star hotel, but a solid 4. It has a very unique feel, and is very refreshing from your typical chain hotels.
