Graet Retreat

I stayed at Villa Antigua for a week in Feb, 2006. I was there for a conference, and the organizers were able to get a group rate of about $60 per day, breakfast included. It is a walkable distance from town, though it is located near the marketplace and bus depot (I'd take a taxi at night). The rooms are spacious and clean, each has a fireplace, tv, and clock radio. The hotel is very airy, with lots of open spaces. The grounds are very well kept. There are two pools, tennis courts, bars and snack shops within the secure, walled compound. When I was not in meetings, I ventured out into the beautiful, but often grimy and loud, city. Coming 'home' to the Villa Antigua was a luxurious relief. One night, I stopped by the disco and found that it was a happening place for the well-heeled of the town. All in all, an excellent experience. Highly reccommended.
