Caribe Hilton, San Juan Antiguo

While the rooms, pool, and beach were wonderful and relaxing - this is no family friendly hotel. Outrageous food prices, horrible food service, and $7 per soda with No Free Refills. $30 for a 30 minute paddle boat. No one ever showed up for the Kids Paradise activities posted and we always had to wait wait wait for someone to open the game room. We will not ever go back here.

Turn down service didn't take out the trash, didn't replace the coffee, didn't make the bed, and left stating they would let someone know that no one came to make the bed. Are they really going to report themselves? HORRIBLE SERVICE! I tried to call housekeeping and the operator told me they close at midnight. 5 minutes later the gentelman at front desk stated housekeeping closes at 11:30. If your employees don't agree the hours of operation or even what their duties are you are going to have the horrible service your hotel provides.

The furniture was kind of old but the rooms were clean and we had a great time.

We just spent 5 wonderful days at this hotel and i was a perfectly wonderful experience. The staff was courteous and elpful, the grounds immaculate and rooms better than expected. Everyone went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible, I unfortunately was on crutches and they wee very accommodating and helpful in any way they could be, the front desk, concierge and wait staff were professional and friendly. the pools an beach were wonderful and the location very convenient to the airport and Old San Juan. We rented a car from across te street from the hotel at allied car rental and the prices very reasonable and employee friendly and helpful. We went to El Yunque the rainforest and the Bacardi factory and on a recommendation of the concierge drove across the island to Ponce on he Caribbean side which was beautiful as well, Definitely going back soon.

The grounds are immaculate, the rooms spacious and well furnished. Ocean view spectacular! Every staff member we came in contact with was pleasant and helpful and really seemed to enjoy their job. The ONLY drawback to the hotel is the food in the lounge area.....too pricy for the fare but with so many restaurants to choose from close by it is not a problem! Location is close to Old San Juan and a strip of other resort hotels, shopping and restaurants. Cab fares to all the above are reasonable, even though they may vary depending on the driver! Swim up to the bar and enjoy your favorite beverages....pools plus plenty of beachfront and cabana lounging space.

My husband and I visited Puerto Rico for the first time and loved every minute of it, especially at this hotel. The room was large and clean with a balcany overlooking the bay. Champagne breakfast was awesome and the hotel staff was very friendly! Loved it! :)

Overall, well worth consideration. You will pay the price for staying here but everything in San Juan is a little more expensive than in the states including hotels and restaurants. Clearly the case, as you will read in all of these reviews concerning the Caribe. The only reasonable eating establishment is Subway, if that even qualifies as an eating establishment. Take a cab to where you want to go to eat and take one back. You will still be way ahead of paying the price to eat on the grounds. Overall, we would seriously consider staying here again. Have a game plan on how much money you are willing to spend for meals on the ground or plan on biting the bullet. Comparable in being an above average hotel with the Interrcontinental. The benefit of the Intercontinental is that reasonably priced restaurants are in walking distance. Do what we did! Stay at least one night at each! You will not be disappointed with either or both choices.

Me and a friend went to PR to relax and celebrate my birthday. We stayed for few days and had a great time in PR as well as the hotel. However, we did not enjoy our experience at the Olas spa which is connected to the hotel. My friend and I booked 10am facials and body services. We got there 30mins. earlier to make sure we would be out on time for our 1pm tour that we had pre-booked and paid for. When we got there we could not have our facials because the esthetician called out sick (it would have been nice if they would have called us before we got there). I decided to change my sweddish massage to a 80min. hot stone massage on the beach. The spa was beautiful and relaxing. They gave us our own private lockers that included robes, towels and slippers. Everyting was going great until about 30 - 45 mins into the massage the therapist decides to tell me that the stones are not heating and I could not have the service that I asked for, so she continued to give me a massage with the remaining time. I was really upset when I found out that my friend had accidently used my locker key to open hers and I was able to open my locker with her key. We then decided to try out keys in other lockers to see if they would work and they did. It was very uncomfortable to think that we left our purses with cash and credit cards in area we thought was safe. We we brought it to the attention of the manager and she didn't seem to be concerned at all and told us it must be a mistake, not to mention we where taken late for our services, so we finished late ( it's a good thing our facials where cancelled). I do agree that things where a little pricey. We ate from the breakfast buffet which was $26.00 + tax per person ($55.00 per day for 2 +tip). It also took a long time to get service on the beach.

yes indeed i loved this hotel one of the most preatiest and coolest places i been to puerto rico and it cultures... can not compare

The hotel has a great appearance, and great ammenities! However, it's very expensive!! Valet parking is $20/plus tips per night! Self-parking is also charged for guests, at the rate of $16/night! The restaraunts in the hotel are very expensive (especially for a family)!! The hotel shops are very pricey as well (we paid $22.00 for a bottle of sunscreen for our daughter)! Oh, and don't forget the "resort fee" of 14% (of your room rate) that is charged per night!! The staff is NOT overly friendly, welcoming, or helpful, like I expected from a resort!! They give you a brochure about a "Kid's program", but nobody seemed to know anything about it!! We stayed in the "older" part of the hotel. The room was renovated, but still showed wear and tear (carpet, paint, etc) The bed and pillows were very comfortable, and the bathroom was clean and spacious. There wasn't much withing walking distance of this hotel. There was a Subway sandwich shop (outside of the hotel entrance), and another local restaraunt about a mile away, that we dined at (in order to avoid the hotel's pricey meals). We only stayed 1 night,(had plans to travel to a friend's house the next day, on the other side of the island), and had booked our room at a great discount, through a travel site. If I had paid full price for this room, at this "resort', I would've been extremely dissatisfied, and extremely broke!!
