Tobys Resort, Montego Bay

I stayed at this hotel, with friends, on April 25, 2910.They have got a superb team at working at front desk. They are all, without exception, friendly, attentive, and most of all helpful. Scotty

Overall, Toby's is a pretty decent value if you aren't expecting everything and all the amenities to be absolutely perfect. It's an older facilty that has some minor flaws, but the price is reasonable. It's not located on the beach and it's not luxurious. It's a little run down. It's not a Sandals or Breezes, but it isn't priced like that either. There are two relatively small swimming pools. The rooms and sheets are clean and that was important to my wife and I. The staff is very friendly and helpful, The food is quite good. It's within walking distance to the "Hip Strip." It's probably more like what the real Jamaican experience was like 30+ years ago. If you're on a tight budget and if you aren't super fussy, you could do a lot worse.

My brother and I stayed at Toby's in January. It was ideal for two young guys on a budget. Toby's is located about 10 min walk from the airport right at the beginning of the "hip strip". The staff was very friendly and helpful in giving us advice on things to do in Montego Bay. The room was pretty small but we didn't spend too much time hanging out there. Definitely shell out the 5 bucks for Doctor's Cove beach its worth it for the floating trampolines and nearby bar. The first few days we ate exclusively at the hotel restaurant which was tasty but a tad overpriced ($20/each for dinner). Eventually, we discovered the Back Page restaurant hidden behind the craft market about a 2 minute walk from the hotel which sold local cuisine for about 300 jamaican. The one excursion we took was to Ocho Rios to climb the waterfall which was definitely something you can only experience in Jamaica. It cost $60/each for Paul to drive us there but we didn't really try to bargain. In terms of nightlife, Pier One was poppin off friday night with plenty of dancing and lots of people. Margaritaville was a more touristy bar but was much closer to the hotel. Outside the hotel, my brother and I were constantly offered various drugs and souvenirs by the hagglers but once they realized we were broke college kids they left us alone. After the craft market folks stopped pressuring us to buy their cheap gifts I had some stimulating conversations about life in Jamaica and left with a whole new respect for the people there. Overall, Jamaica is the bomb and Toby's Resort was perfect for what I wanted to accomplish there "Relax and Chill"

I loved Toby's. The people went out of their way to make us comfortable even though we were only there for 1 night. The food was GREAT! Thanks guys

The resort was very comfortable, the restaurant was WONDERFUL, the food being so good that we ate there most of the time. The breakfast in the morning with the fresh fruit plate is a must. The resort is located in close proximity to Doctor's Cave Beach, which is beautiful. We also went to The Native Restaurant, which is not very far and being that we were the only ones there, had the place to ourselves looking out over the hip strip, stories above the street. The restaurant was surrounded and built around astounding blooming trees - we ate on the balcony, and had the best seating. :) The amenities at Toby's are great, and I would suggest talking to Soldier, a wonderful man who helped us determine some of our outings, one to Bob Marley's - a long trip up into the mountains, an experience I won't forget. There were 2 pools (Carmen the bartender makes the best Pina Colada's!), very pretty scenery with foliage surrounding, and clean, moderate rooms. I will go again!

It is close to everything in the area. There is nothing I disliked abut Toby's Resort. I liked it because it was very open and there were many places I could go to at a walking distance. Their are also many places that are a short distance that I could just take a taxi.

I liked that there was security on site 24/7 and that it was peaceful. No one at the Resort was rude or tried to hassle you. For the price it was excellent. Now once we left the parking lot the hassle began. I thought that all Jamaicans were friendly and trusting. Wrong!! Beware they are dirty & SNEAKY individuals!! Best advice is not to go on the Hip Strip and if you dare to adventure do it early in the morning and don't look at anyone and if they speak just keep walking and ignore them. Always say NO No No because they will keep bugging you. And some even claimed to know us from the rental car place and others said from the bar-- remember me??... No way!!! Hope this helps. I wish we would have known before travelling.

i liked everything the atmosphere,the people the service and the room was romantic and very clean. it was also close to a lot of site seeing the ocean souvenirs shops and attractions and movie theathre and nightlife ,beaches so much you will have a blast my husband and i have such a good time it was hard to keep bored .and the sunshine is un believable .

I HAVE NO COMPLAINTS WITH THIS HOTEL.LOCATED AT THE START OF THE STRIP,WITH A PUBLIC BEACH LESS THAN 50 METRES AWAY.A NICE BUDGET NO FRILLS HOTEL.

I took a mission team of 71 to stay at Toby's . I was a bit aprehensive since in previous years, we have gotten burned by some higher star resorts. It was a WONDERFUL experience. We were greeted with a smile ( all 71 of us) and the check in was in less than 15 minutes! The cook provided an excellent dinner and breakfast for our team. Shane, the owner went beyond his call to accomodate our team. The rooms were nice, clean , cool ac, bug free, roomy and had a nice balcony or porch. The pools were clean. One of our team members had an allergic reaction during the night and had to go to the hospital. The owner told us to call him at any time and he would personally come pick us up from the hospital!! This was so kind! We will go back to Toby's Resort! Toby's gets a thumbs up from Fort Mill,SC!!!
