Tobys Resort, Montego Bay

The people at Toby's, especially in the resturant, were fabulous. I enjoyed my stay there very much. The resturant food was so good. The rooms were clean and so was the grounds of the resort. Paul the local taxi guy was very helpfull. He taught us alot about Jamaica and took us where ever we needed at anytime. I will go back.

Stayed there three time in the past eight months and the experience was great for a single woman. If you are looking for a place thats layed back and unprentensious this is it. The staff is good.Great location close to the airport less travel time.

i liked everything the atmosphere,the people the service and the room was romantic and very clean. it was also close to a lot of site seeing the ocean souvenirs shops and attractions and movie theathre and nightlife ,beaches so much you will have a blast my husband and i have such a good time it was hard to keep bored .and the sunshine is un believable .

This place is beauty, very warm and all people ther is lovely! You�ll enjoy it. Toby�s is also near from a fantastic bathing club named Dr. Cave�s...

Just got back from a wonderful week at Toby Resort, I couldn't have asked for a nicer place for the money. Toby is very clean, spotlessly maintained, and the staff is very nice and helpful in all respects. Security is very good, and the vibes are mellow... Toby is located on the corner of Sunset and Gloucester, just out the airport to the right mebbe 3-4 minutes...$7us taxi ride... I was given room #10, which faces the big pool, very nice with a comfortable double bed, and a very clean tub for those who appreciate that... Satellite tv with many choices, including American news channels, and WiFi access. which is very sweet.. The 2 pools are very clean and well maintained, the restaurant (Toby's Good Eats), is above average and prices are reasonable...breakfasts are very good... I read some posts complaining about the lack of hot water, this was never a problem during mi week...in fact, it was some of the hottest water I have ever seen..gotta be careful of scalding... The Hip Strip is right out the gate, you can walk the whole distance in 15 minutes easy, the hustle can be intimidating to a first time visitor, but returning guests will not be put off...just a little respect goes a long way.... The little public beach just to the right of the resort is priceless! To sum up, Tobys is a fine choice, and I will return!! As a long time visitor to Jamaica (this was trip 17) I know a little bit about it, so please take this as a reasoned review...

I loved Toby's. The people went out of their way to make us comfortable even though we were only there for 1 night. The food was GREAT! Thanks guys

My friends and I stayed at Toby's from August 26th to August 29. It was such a nice and friendly place. It is very family based. The people that works at Toby's were very nice and helpful. We were visiting from Vero Beach Florida and it was the first time we visit Jamaica for a couple of us. The food was excellent at the on-site resturant and Raoul (waiter) at the resturant was so helpful to us. Telling us the best places to go and not to go. Kitty on of the groundman was so sweet and kind. What can I say about the front desk help, but WOW!!! Very helpful people. If you are looking for a wonderful place to stay, stay at Toby's. The next time that I'm in MoBay, this is where I will be lodging. It is in the perfect spot for whatever you need.

We stayed at Toby's resort for 4 days in 2005. Upon our arrival, Toby's staff made us feel right at home. Percy, at the front desk was abundantly helpful in helping us settle in. Our room was clean and just right for the money. Service was prompt especially from Soldier our driver and tour guide. Soldier went above duty to make Montego Bay, a better experience than it would have been. He escorted us on shopping trips in downtown MoBay and was readily available whenever we needed him. He took us to Ochio Rios, and Negril and waited patiently for us the whole day without any complaints. In addition, his fare was very reasonable compared to others on the island. Soldier's company and his impromptu education about Jamaica was practically one of the highlights of our trip. As long as you're not expecting every comfort of home on your vacation for example: early warm showers,(which is not commonly available in the Caribbean, as seasoned travelers would know it takes their water a while to heat)and people running up and down catering to your every whim as they would in a very expensive resort than Toby's would be a great stay. We were gone most of the day and mostly slept in the room. If you are looking to spend all the days of your vacation on the property then I suggest you pay more and stay in a gated, secluded, resort. We've been to Jamaica several times and stayed in several prices and for the money, and for the service Toby's is just right.

The resort was very comfortable, the restaurant was WONDERFUL, the food being so good that we ate there most of the time. The breakfast in the morning with the fresh fruit plate is a must. The resort is located in close proximity to Doctor's Cave Beach, which is beautiful. We also went to The Native Restaurant, which is not very far and being that we were the only ones there, had the place to ourselves looking out over the hip strip, stories above the street. The restaurant was surrounded and built around astounding blooming trees - we ate on the balcony, and had the best seating. :) The amenities at Toby's are great, and I would suggest talking to Soldier, a wonderful man who helped us determine some of our outings, one to Bob Marley's - a long trip up into the mountains, an experience I won't forget. There were 2 pools (Carmen the bartender makes the best Pina Colada's!), very pretty scenery with foliage surrounding, and clean, moderate rooms. I will go again!

Toby's Resort was very cute. I liked the island feel that the hotel had. I was felt very comfortable there. I did not eat at the restuarant so I can not add a comment about that service, but the hotel staff was warm and inviting. One day we did have an issue with hot water, but that was cleared up by the end of the day. It is walking distance from the hip strip during day light, however too far at night because of safety issues, unless there's a group of you. For the price it was excellent.
