Sunset Jamaica Grande Resort & Spa, Ocho Rios

What an amazing experience! The people were incredibly friendly, the location beautifull and convenient, and the food great! I would deffinately return here. This is why you can't choose a vacation by reviews... The bad side will always be made to outshine the good... whiners.

Don't want to waste my time with details, would not recommend to my worst enemy. I am from Jamaica but I am not bias. This place is good to raise animals. Thy should call it Jamaica Sunset Zoo.

Astoundingly large resort, many people, true 3* experience. Met fabulous people,watched ships come and go,hotel is tired but you get what you pay for.Went on last minute trip ,quite leary because of online reviews, not a complaint. Two minutes from downtown Ochos, this gorgeous property is perhaps the most fun you will ever have on a budget.Have been to much better resorts$$$ the key here are people having a whole lot of fun.Most memorable moment*power outage. Whole of bay goes out for 70 minutes. This resort, police station and Mick Jaggers place only ones with lights on!!!!

I came with a group for our annual conference. I did not get my keys until about 3 pm the first day of arrival. When I got to my room it was not in a state of readiness. There were no shower screen, no shower gel, there was no towel rack, the hair dryer wasn't working and the face basin was dripping water. I had to put the bin under the sink to catch the water. The food wasn't all good. The yogurt was out dated October 31st 2011 and the my arrival was November 3, 2011. The day of the departure I received a call from our Representative that some items from my room was missing. I could not believe what I was hearing as one of the item that was missing was the said shower screen that I mentioned earlier that there was none. I had taken a wash rag to the Banquet to dry my face as I am always sweating. My son who attended the Conference for the very first time wasn't aware of the regulations had taken a towel & a face rag to the beach and left it same place. I was so disturbed when I got the call. This is about my sixth time to the hotel having attended our Annual JAST Conference and the Annual Ladies Conference of the Church Of God of Prophecy for Jamaica and the Cayman Island. I would like an apology for being accused of taking other items from the room. If I had the chance of choosing a vacation destination The Jamaica Grande would be the last on my Agenda. I always tell my friends about The Sunset Jamaica Grande Hotel in Ocho Rios as Ocho Rios is my favorite town in Jamaica and Tourist destination. Looking forward to a prompt response

When I first arrived on Saturday afternoon after the check in time. My room was still not ready. The ladies at the front desk sent me to the grill to get something to eat after my long journey. Only they did not realize that the grill on the south side was closed. When I went to look around for the grill I was yelled at for going down a hallway I wasn't suppose to be down. I won't know that because there were no signs that said do not enter. When I went back to the front desk and told them they seemed confused. The male manager did not seem helpful and there was a lot of inforation I didn't know regarding visitors. For example. Did you know that it will cost you 60 dollars a day for a day visitor and 100 dollars a day for an overnight guest. Did you also know that if you lose your braclet for some reason perhaps on a trip to dunns river falls and it breaks off and you can't find it, that it will cost you 100 dollars per day for every day you have left at the resort. I know I didn't. The only thing that I really enjoyed was the breakfast in the mornings and wayne the watersports guy who was so sweet and helpful. I appreciated wayne. Thank you

This Resort has got to be the worst on the strip in Ocho RIos; My family and I stayed there during a recent bereavement and to say the least, it was more grief on top of what we had; We had 8 Rooms booked and everyone among other guest staying at the hotel had a complaint . The rooms were moldy and they stunk, there was always moisture/water on the floor - water dripping from the A/C even when it was turned on; furniture is very dated and worn; complaints to various managers and even General Manager got some of us change in rooms with the same complaints; . The staff was very unfriendly, do not know how to answer when someone passes by and say "hello"; the security at the gates were morans and they continue to be morans. The food was "okay" have had better on my own Island but I must admit that the dining rooms were clean and so were the pools and the hot tubs. When I got there, I asked for a "Do Not Distrub Sign" and every day it was coming and 10 days later I left and it still did not arrive. The Internet was at a daily or weekly cost which in today's world even The Days Inn has free Wi-Fi....... go figure. I would not recommend this resort to anyone. The only thing Jamaica Grande has in its favor is the central location in Ocho Rios, close walk to craft market, to the town and of course Dunns River which is a great attration, and it backs fully on the ocean. The music and entertainment can be had elsewhere. All in all, I was very disappointed in the Resort and I am trying to see how I can get a refund of my money. Even ROOMS ON THE BEACH nest door is far better than the "Famous Jamaica Grande"

I went to this hotel with my sister and nephrew last year was not great but we.retuned this year again,as last year we arrived at night the year was not ready. The room was not fit for what we piad for. They could not move us until a couple days the tenth and twelveth floor is for people who flyed with Virgin but these were taken by the teacher conference held at the hotel. We were eveuntually moved on the 3rd day by the manager he called it an upgrade however we had to move again on the same night at 2pm due to a leaking WC. We were moved to the 12th floor to the room we requested by email before we travelled.This was the room we stayed in last year as i did not trust the hotel to put us in a room that we had stayed in before. The food was not fit a dog.Staff OK

The North Tower has the worse room ever. Some of the security guard were unkind and rude. House keeping didnot get to the room for cleaning until 5 pm each day I have to call for toilet paper and washs cloth everyday I went and brought my own include towels. There were no fridge in the room, no bottle water I had to walked to some grocery store because the hotel does not provided bottle water i had to drink the water at room temp. I spend over three thousand dollars and didnot enjoy any of it. Some days there were no water in the bathroom hot or cold, the air conditioner leak on the floor when it did work. I got sick from drinking the water on the first day. When asked for a cup of soup I was told I cannot eat anything in my room even though I went to the nurse got a note I was still denied a simple meal. I WOULD NEVER TELL NO ONE TO VISIT JAMAICA GRANDE IN OCHO RIOS unless they make some serious improvement. The cats and birds at the resort should not be a part of the package.

This was my 3rd trip there. The 1st and 2nd time my family and I , we had a good time , needless to say why we went a 3rd time. Unfortunately starting with arrival night when we were thrown at the north tower which needs a lot of repair especially for that kind of money. No beach party for that week which is one of the things we looked forward to. No working ice machine in the buildings . Administration had no shame to tell you to walk to the nearest bar to get ice and use the tap water, it's safe. Eight of us went there my underage child with a kid bracelet was served alcoholic drink at the bar. Administrative staff is so nonchalant towards complaints. One pool table for a hotel of 730 rooms at full capacity, kids are left with the pools, water slide a little area in the back with a basketball hoop, a non working arcade room. Business is obviously going well a group of 8 people wasn't a big deal. If my 1st trip was like this I wouldn't have gone back. We have had much better food and more choices in the past.

I'm disappointed to say that this hotel & staff are not worth it. I went to Jamacia w/ a party of 6 on vacation and the treatment we recieved was substandard. The service staff were rude unengaging & disrespectful. Management were even less concerned. I tried multiple times to voice concerns and each time I was met w/ a take it or leave it attitude. I chose this hotel because of the kids & it was truly a waste. I ended up moving our party to Sandals. Dont go here, if you care how you our your family is treated go to Sandal, any of them.
