Hispaniola Hotel & Casino, Santo Domingo

I stayed at the Hispanola hotel in 2008 and Hotel Santo Domingo in 2007. The hotel taxis charge you more than the taxis on the street because I think the hotel makes money from the taxi fare. I always take a note pad with me and write to the cab driver where I want to go and he must give me a price before I get in the taxi. Many Dominicans think that Americans are rich and they will charge you high fares if you don't ask first. As for the Hispaniola hotel it was ok about ($90 a night) and Hotel Santo Domingo was about ($110 a night). At Hotel Santo Domingo I stayed on the 3rd or 4th floor, the hallway was dark and I saw no other people on my floor until the weekend. The door had previously been kicked in breaking the safety lock. I would prefer the Hispaniola hotel rather than staying on that dark hotel floor again. But both were too expensive.

Had same exprience with the "pirana" taxi drivers, breakfest is ok and rooms are just avarge. I should have stayed somewhere else, for same price.

The room i was in was recently renovated, so i think the Hotel is on its way. Good rate, well trained staff, good service in all. Free wireles internet, breakfast is excellent. Will be back here on my next visit.

The hotel lacks customer value. After paying about a $100 per night, i derserve a $100 in return. You can get a far much better hotel for that price.
