The Divi is GREAT !!!
By Rob, 6/3/08
OK everyone, we have gone to the Divi 5 years in a row now. Every year we go it is fantastic !!! All the Bar staff know us, and treat us like old friends. Our room has always been very clean. The buffet is good, they have a cooked to order omlet station for breakfast that is delicious !! And the lunch is good too, but they have a pizza bar that is so good you will love it !! And it is NOT ketchup on cheap bread like some other person on this review site said !!!! My husband and I ate pizza every day it was so delicious !! And at the sandpiper bar they now have pasta and burgers & grilled sandwiches that are great too. The beach at the Divi is so beautiful, with white sands and clear blue water. This is a down to earth hotel, that is not fancy. The grounds are beautiful, and the rooms are very clean and comfortable. Just come and relax, and enjoy yourself. You WILL love it. Any negative reports you hear on this just totally ignore. Your vacation here is what you make of it. Anyone can find negative in anything. But I believe you all will love this resort as much as we do. And we will continue to go every year.

Not a luxury resort!!!!
By Kelley, 4/27/08
We just returned from a week at the Divi - we have stayed at a very nice resort in Kaua'i, and after that, this was like a motel 6! The beds are the MOST uncomfortable beds I have EVER slept on. The rooms are like dorm rooms. We had ants in our room and had to spray them ourselves. The TV reception was poor. The food was okay, nothing great. The only thing great about it was the beach location. It's an easy place to go with a big group, which is why we went. Other than that, there is no reason to go....And I don't see what draws people to Aruba, other than to get out of the winter cold. Everyone was from New York or Boston. The New Yorkers were VERY rude and started a few fights with performers and other vacationers. There was essentially no hotel security or management to handle the sitations......

WE will not be back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/2/08
First of all.. Me and my husband travel all around the world and the Divi Divi was the WORST place we have ever stayed!! We are sending in a service report on this awful vacation. It all started once we arrive to the resort on 12/13/07--we were traveling with another couple who go there every year for the the past 5. In order to get a room any where next to them we had to pay an additional 140.00. That was the beginning of a nightmare! It was an "upgrade" room. The BR door handle was falling off, the BR tub tile was loose. You could see out side your room with the door closed. The refrigerator was on the floor--did not work. The food was disgusting-even the "specialty" rest were awful. Not sure what was worse-the Service or the food! We walked out of the Paparazzi rest after sitting there for over an hour waiting for our food! The Red parrot was gross! My husband had steak and literally could not cut it. The service at the bars were slow-like we were bothering them--AND we are tippers! The entertainment was a joke! Only activities were Bingo-We were very disappointed and will not return and will not recommend this Resort to our friends/family.

A dump
By Justin, 12/5/07
Room was generic. Shower had either no or way too much pressure, even the hot and cold labels were reversed. Bugs crawling on the walls and moldy grout. TV got terrible reception (not a big deal on vacation, but just another thing they got wrong). Housekeeping was friendly and efficient. Breakfast was terrible, even the cereal boxes were stale. Lunch was just as bad, nothing appetizing to choose from at all and no fresh ingredients. It was entertaining to look around the room and see the other diners faces of disgust. Off hours dining consisted of "pizza" that was cheap bread with ketchup and cheese on it. Drink a lot if you plan on eating here. We left the premises (and paid out of pocket) whenever possible to eat. Dinner was ok, but the concierge at both Divi and Tamarijn both insist there are no reservations available. Meanwhile, the restaurants are always half empty. We were told we had to eat a buffet dinner (gross) the day we arrived because "nobody gets reservations the day they check in". After arguing we were given the option to eat at 9:30 PM at the place for "interactive dining" where "you cook your own food". Translation: We save on staff and you do all the work. Good luck making good food with only soy sauce and vegetable oil. Bar is ok. Some name brand liquors. Frozen drinks were a joke. They came in a plastic jug that got thrown in a blender with a couple ice cubes and tasted like you know what. All drinks are served in small plastic cups that have probably been in use for 20 years. Staff is totally uninterested and doesn't really care if you're happy or not. There is no urgency in making sure their guests feel welcome or pleased with the accommodations. Ironically, the concierges were the rudest staff members of all. They are always on the phone and make you sit there while they talk to their friends. It is clear the staff is made up of the high rise rejects. The beach is big and not crowded. Water and sand are beautiful, great sunset views. Pools are small and congested, but clean. Iguanas and lizards were fun to look at. We probably should have ate them for some edible food. Spa was nice and the staff friendly, you can tell their affiliation with the resort is strictly based on location. We would not return nor recommend this place to anyone unless we hated them. Spend the extra money and stay at one of the high rises or even anywhere else for that matter. If you're looking for a no frills vacation this is the place, but even then the food is not worth paying a cent for.

can't go wrong
By Nicholas S, 11/20/07
beautiful resort, great location, close to town, close to the casino (casino is small, but it works just fine) staff is friendly and helpful, rooms and grounds could not be cleaner and better maintained beach is great, there were enough huts when we were there, but if the resort is busier it may not be so food was good, buffet was well put together for breakfast and lunch note: the staff is laid back and not known for punctuality, the bars never open on time(11am) but the bartenders are good food at the italian place is very good, just make sure to make reservations early (two days before, in morning), food everywhere else was not great, but far from bad do without the palm grill, it's too hot lastly, if you want a hut you have to be a vulture and reserve one early, otherwise the old folks with boston accents will have thrown their towels and danielle steel books on them and as a decent person you wont hold them to the sign that says "no reserving" on every hut it is a great resort and I would return without a second thought

Better than Hawaii?
By Nancy, 11/14/07
That's right! My husband & I went for our 30th anniv. and to see friends get married on the Beach! This was the most enjoyable and relaxing vac. we ever had(and we've been on quite a few). The Divi and the Tam. were both wonderful. The food was very good, and the Buffet's were great if you just like stayin in your bathing suit all day! Everything from the shows, our tiki hut, the ocean & bar was all we needed. The convenence of gambling across the street also was great. That's all there is to say!! Had a Great time!! Wonderful, Wonderful, Wonderful!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/26/07
This is a wonderful place to go to. You do not have to leave the resort at all, if you don't want to. If you want to do some shopping for local crafts, they have a flea market that comes onto the resort two nights a week. They have entertainement every night of the week. Very friendly staff, clean beach, clean restraunts, clean rooms, the list goes on and on. The pizza bar was a major highlight of my husbands, you can have pizza from 11am - 1am, as many times as you like. The beach was not over crowded. We were at the beach every day. We never used the pools. There were only two things that I disliked about the property. First, when you arrive at the resort, they have people trying to sell time-shares for the adjacent property. They literally bother you every time you walk past them, I started avoiding the area they were in. Second, there were bugs in our first room. When we told the front desk, they immediately moved us to a new room. Overall, I love it there and we can't wait to go back for our fifth anniversary.

First time, but not the last
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/10/07
My wife and I spent a week at Divi and we loved it. It was our first experience at an AI and we were very pleased with everything. Even though all rooms were booked, it never seemed crowded. Everyone, except maybe one bartender, was courteous and really seemed to want to make us happy there. As others have said, you really don't need to leave the resort and the beach there is one of the prettiest we've seen. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and we enjoyed the quiet nights. I would recommend the Divi to anyone. We will be returning next year.
