Royal Mayan Resort, Cancun

Horrible customer service.  Non existent concierges.  Awful experience.  Do not go there.  Not worth the money.  And they endorse Thomas More Travel, which is the worst-- do not waste your money!!!

we have been MANY times (leaving the snow in Indiana again tomorrow for the Royals),and have NEVER had a bad experience. People who complain don't know how to do this! Yes, you pay to exchange for a different week -- but it's a company who has to pay those workers! At the Royals, the food selections are great!, free transportaion between the 5 Cancun locations, great villas, great conciegres (sp), great views, pools and very very clean! Prices in the food stores are amazingly good, we were told they were the same as Wal-Mart in town, and thats TRUE! These are 5 star resorts in the time-share world. We own MANY time-shares and always trade to come to the Royals, (several times a year!) COME ON DOWN!!!!!!!!!! :) Any of them, Mayan, Islander, Carabian, Club Internationale and Sands will be a vacation you will never forget!!!!!!

Great place to just relax. Not easy to get to town, but really did not need to go. Sister resorts had grocery stores and lots of things to do from the tour agency on site.

This summer marks my 3rd year of visiting this resort with a Royal Resorts owner. I have to say I enjoy it each time I visit. So much that I'm looking into getting my own villa. The staff as little turnover and is there to please. Everyone is nice and friendly. The view is how you'd see a beach, ocean and resort in your dreams. The water is so rich with colors of blue, the grounds are kept very well and the staff is there to make your stay 100% enjoyable. And now they've added a WI-FI so you can stay connected to the internet via your PC. If you just want to relax at the pool or beach, go to the clubs to "kick it" or just visit all the resturants.....it's all within reach of this resort. Not to mention you can find several adventures via the resort. Deep sea fishing, VIP events at the clubs, zip-line, golf, a day of spa at the Royal Sands, etc.......it's all there! If you have a chance to go......DO IT! You will not regret it.

We spent a few days at the Mayan Palace in Playa Del Carmen. That hotel left our entire family in a very crabby state....thank goodness we booked half of our vacation at the Royal Mayan in Cancun! The beach is wonderful, the rooms spacious, clean and tastefully decorated. The staff is amazing! From the second we arrived, each and every one of their team has been a delightful, courteous, helpful part of our vacation. I won't waste my time on the bigger, resorts...I am definitely just booking the royals our next trip to Cancun.....I LOVE them!

We were greeted with open arms and a "Welcome Home!" attitude from all the staff. We had our own personal concierge, Duran, who provided excellent service. Our two bedroom, 2 bath villa had a beautiful view of the Caribbean and pools and our own personal maid each day. Wow! Our 1st vacation in Mexico and certainly not the last. Thank you Royal Mayan.

The Royal Mayan is a wonderfully kept resort on a incredible piece of the bluest ocean water you will ever see. The rooms are huge the service is great. The bar staff are the nicest people. Happy Hour in the pool at the bar is the bomb. If you ever considered going to Cancun and wan't a place without all the 24 hour partiers this is the place. Xel-Ha excursion through Thomas Moore a must do!

We just returned from our week stay at the Royal Mayan Resort. Very nice place. Rooms are big and kept very clean. Staff is most helpful and friendly. The beach is probably the best you will find. The pools were beautiful and clean. At the airport we booked two days to spend at the Moon Palace ( any palace except LaBlanch ). It was a great deal. All we had to do was get our taxi to the palace and we had all the food, drink, gym, entertainment for the entire day. We did have to sit through a timeshare talk before we got our vouchers. We ended up paying $75 a person for two entire days. It was great. Especially since we knew a lot about the Palace's and we have stayed at the Palace's many times. We knew the value of the deal being offered. At the resort we ate at the Carribean for the Italian Buffet night. OMG one of the best I have ever been to. What we discovered to late in the week was at the Carribean Resort ( we stayed at the Mayan ) there is a coffee shop, sandwich deli, shops. The Mayan has nothing except a small grocery store ( food is very expensive and limited ) a laundry, and thats about it. With a short walk through the resort you can go right to the Carribean. We used the gym at the Carribean which was really nice. You can join for the week or day. Since we spent two days somewhere else we were able to use the gym at the palace. We would definetly go back. I would say the weakest thing is the food. We didn't purchase much at the grocery store. Water, crackers maybe. The bus travels the main road all day and into the late night. For $1.00 you can go into town or the mall ( which is wonderful ). We ate out every night at different places. I brought my own coffee and we had coffee in our unit. We have traveled to Cancun many times and think this resort is a good place to go. We did meet a couple on the bus who said they were heading to Walmart to buy food, gifts, ect.. Would have done that also if we had thought about it sooner. Took the ferry one day to island from town and rode bikes most of the morning there. Lots to do if you want, or just relax by the pool or beach.

We have NO dislikes of the Royal Mayan! We have been going for the past 20+ years and look forward to each return. We have never had a bad experience. The Staff are the best in the world, and we have traveled the world! See you again, in June....

We were five minutes from the beach and could eat, drink and shop right from our lounge chair!! What more could you ask for??
