Description

The Barcelo Ixtapa Beach Resort is located on El Palmar Beach in Ixtapa, adjacent to an 18-hole golf course, and approximately 12 miles from Zihuatanejo International Airport. The resort's amenities include the four restaurants, two bars, swimming pool, fitness center, four tennis courts, day and nighttime activity programs, gift shop, children's club, beauty parlor, and massage treatments. The hotel also offers room service, medical services, babysitting, private parking, laundry valet, and a tour desk. All meals, domestic beverages, non-motorized water sports, taxes, and gratuities are included in the room rate. All rooms feature air-conditioning, Internet access, cable TV, coffeemakers, hairdryers, minibars, and safes. Please note: Room rates are based on double occupancy. Extra persons, and all children over age 2, will incur a charge at this property.

we have stayed at this resort in the past and enjoyed it but on feb 18 we meet some friends there and bought a day pass $65. each --we were staying in zihuatanejo--at the time that we were leaving and handed in the towel card the gentleman could not find our info--we had our wrist bands on and had paid cash --we feel that whatever mistake that was made was handled inappropriately--when i returned the next day to leave a note to my friend that we would not be meeting with them that day and that i had left my swimsuit there --to please check and see if she could bring it home with her--they were there for 6 more days--she did not receive my message until she was checking out--i feel this is a lack of common sense --they were also bothered by the way this was handled

Stay Away

We were very disappointed in this resort. Our biggest complaint was the cleanliness of the rooms not to mention that several people in our group became ill.

Fifteen Years

We have visited Ixtapa once or twice a year since 1992. Each time, we have stayed at this property. The service is great, the staff have become like family, and we are welcomed with hugs and smiles each year. Ixtapa is clean and safe. Shopping is within walking distance. If dining out away from the hotel, be sure to try El Infierno Las Glorias - on the same block as Senor Frogs. Very good food, and reasonably priced too. The weather is wonderful - no need for jackets or sweaters, that's for sure. It's very casual. We stay for 10-14 days, and just pack a carryon! Take a taxi to Playa Linda for a trip over to Ixtapa Island. It's cheaper than the tour group package. Enjoy, you won't be disappointed.

Very Pleased

The place was very nice. Great location, right on the beach. The room was clean, the other facilities (pool, gym, game room) were also clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The beach was beautiful. I would recommend this to everyone especially if you have kids, lots of activities to do. We always felt safe there.

Travelling with Air Canada holidays began this vacation poorly!Upon very late arrival (2:00) A.M. the romm for our young adults was not set up with a third bed. When it rained (every day for a while) water leaks down the glass roof and drips all over the dining area.by day 3 4 out of 5 in our group were ill. 80 % of the people staying here were ill. i have been to 13 + of these junkets and never been over-sold so much. this is a 2* maximum. do not go to this hotel.

Would NOT stay here again

Just got meds for a parasite. I am assuming it is from the Hotel since it was all inclusive. A hotel worker let himself into our room the first night we were there. Questioned the front desk about it but they really did not care to much about it. The food was awful. Same thing everyday. Kids in pool spilling pop/drinks and adults putting cigerettes out and leaving butts in drains. The lsit goes on and on. The bottom line is I would not suggest this hotel to anyone.

Loved Ixtapa

This was my 3rd trip to Mexico, and absolutely loved Ixtapa. The service and food was wonderful. We never had to spend the extra money to eat outside of the hotel because it was that good. The bar service was excellent, and offered many new drinks daily. The night life in Ixtapa is wondrdul, and plan to bring comfortable dancing shoes. We loved that you could do activities on the beach, and not have to spend the whole day away from the hotel. Parasailing is a must, and cheep. We will be returning in Feb.07, and cannot wait to return.

Best on the Beach

We took a group of 14 to Barcelo in March of this year and we had a wonderful time. Having stayed there several years ago we were very surprised at the many changes; a new pool, enlarging the old pool, new restaurant, robes and slippers, etc. They have really upgraded Barcelo. It's now one of the nicest hotels on the strip and we will definitely be going back. The staff is diligent about seeing to your every need. The rooms were immaculately clean and we were treated like royalty. If you can't be happy at Barcelo, you can't be happy anywhere. We have stayed at many Mexican resorts as we go twice a year, and this one ranks up there with the best of them. The food by the way was excellent and we are fussy and like quality. Our entire party was extremely pleased and ranked Barcelo a sold 5 star hotel.

Can't Wait To Go Back!!!

My husband and I vacationed in Ixtapa this past January. It was the best vacation either of us have ever had! The people at the Barcelo were wonderful and so helpful and kind! We had a wonderful room w/ a beach view on the 9th floor...The weather was warm and beautiful. It was a belated honeymoon for us and we will definitely go back! The all-inclusive was a great way to go...The dinners weren't all the exciting (except for Mexican Night) but you couldn't go away hunger that's for sure...

Great Location! Wonderful Service!!!

We had the time of our lives and would go back in a heartbeat. The all inclusive can't be beat. Most of the rooms have a panoramic ocean view. All the facilities are just steps from the beach. Excellent breakfast buffet, great coffee. Lunch out doors on the patio. Dinner shows every night. Bicycle tours, beach or pool volleyball daily. Jets skis and parasailing on the beach. And the weather in Ixtapa is between 85F and 90F year round, What a fantastic vacation we had. Seven days was not enough.
