Better than some, worse than others...
By ,
Overall this place was good. However, there are a few areas that I was dissapointed in. It is a smaller resort & did not have any kind of lobby area to hang out at night other than a very small bar. If you plan to go off the resort for entertainment then this may not be a big deal. If you like to stay at the resort then there is almost no place to hang out. I also felt that the front desk/check in staff was inadequate. It seemed like the two guys at the counter didn't really know what they were doing and could care less. It took us almost a full half hour just to check in while we were waiting for a teenager to figure it out. I also feel like they cheep'd out in a few areas for an all inclusive. You have to pay for the gym & for internet access and the resort activities that are included are somewhat limited. That being said, the place was very clean & the food was the best that I've had in an all inclusive. They are very weird about reservations though. We tried to get a seat at one of thier restaurants without having a reservation and the place was near empty and they still would not seat us. The pool area has a great view and the poolside beds & couches where a nice touch, just plan on getting up very early if you want to reserve one. Most of the staff are great & overal it was a good trip, but these are the kinds of things you remember & that make you choose another place next time. It gets a B in my book.

Their phone number is always busy
By ,
Horrible phone service at hotel, tried calling number listed on their website, turned out to be a booking service and it took me half hour to get through on a number that was only a booking service. Since I was calling from canada, I wasted a lot of time and money. Then tried calling number, never got through and gave up after half an hour. It always rang busy. could not get hold of my husband. Very poor service.

WOULD NOT GO BACK
By ,
First of all check-in is @ 3 p.m. (standard). We arrived at 5 p.m. and did not get our room until after 6 p.m. Bad start! Yes, the hotel is clean but the lack of customer service is horrible. Very disorganized. EXPENSIVE! You get a wristband, towel key, room key all which if lost the hotel will charge you $25 dollars per item! Breakfast $20 dollars per adult, lunch $40 and dinner $50 per day. Rooms are very nice but you can hear everything from the other rooms. Over all would go back to Cancun but NOT The Cancun Caribe Park Royal Grand!

Wish we could have stayed longer.....
By ,
We spent our holiday weekend at the Caribe Park Royal Grand, and enjoyed almost everything about it. The part we were most impressed with was the cleanliness of the hotel. There were people cleaning EVERYWHERE, at all hours of the day and night. I can't tell you how many housekeeping staff we saw on their hands and knees cleaning under tables, baseboards, and everything else you can think of. The room was immaculate, as were the grounds, restaurants and pools. It is a comforting feeling being able to walk around a clean resort - it was very important to us. The entertainment staff -- Ceasar, Betsa, JC and Osacr were easily the best part of our weekend. They clearly wanted us all to feel comfortable and have fun. The activities they planned allowed us to mingle with other guests from the hotel. We were able to meet couples from all over the United States, as well as Canada, Mexico, Russia, Finland and Argentina. The staff even makes a point of going to the clubs with their guests at night. We felt very safe under their guidance, and had more fun because we traveled with so many other people at the resort. They truly understand their role as Entertainment Staff, and they do it so well. I'd love to know when they sleep!!! Service in general at the hotel was great - all of the hotel staff was very friendly, and willing to help. We enjoyed Wilburth at the hotel bar, Judith was a great help at the pool bar, even Ceasar at Le Jardin knew us by name within one day. The reviews that mention the Time Share salespeople are correct - they set up camp right next to the only elevator we could access. They seem to sense whether you are willing to talk to them, and they backed right off when we told them no thank you. They seemed to have plenty of takers - as there were tours going on all around the resort every day. We have mixed reviews about the food. We agree that the hotel needs at least one more restaurant - we were only there for 3 nights. If we were there longer, we would have to venture outside the grounds, which defeats the purpose of an all-inclusive Breakfast and lunches were great - but dinners weren't so hot. We fell in love with LeJardin - Ceasar was awesome on the grill with the burgers and dogs - and the salsa was really yummy on nachos. We also liked the ice cream/gelato from the coffee shop. The location was great - within walking distance of other restaurants and some shopping, and an inexpensive bus or cab fare to all the clubs, etc... Across the street is Basic nightclub. Yes, the music was loud all the way to 5am. Our room was on the same end as the club, so we could hear it (and feel it, lol). The other couple we traveled with were 10 rooms down the hall and could not hear a thing during that same time. It didn't bother us all that much. I got VERY sick during this trip. This was my 4th trip to Mexico, and I've never gotten sick before. I never drank the water, or even coffee. I didn't have any bottled water. I'm not sure if it was the ice in all the beverages, something that I ate, or something that was just going around (I wasn't the only one who was sick). Let's just say it was no fun. I don't know what I would do differently to avoid it next time.... All in all, we had a great trip, and enjoyed this hotel. We read every single review that was out there before we went, and found many of the reviews to be true, but some people seemed to expect more than a hotel in this price range could deliver. Don't forget, they are new on the all-inclusive scene - there will be some growing pains. Suzy & Kevin

We enjoyed our stay
By ,
Our room was very nice--large, clean, well-appointed, comfortable bed--and the ocean view was great! The hotel is attractive and clean, and the grounds were nice. The beach was okay but there are better beaches elsewhere. The gift shop had surprisingly good prices! We appreciated the location because it allowed us to walk to the nearby shopping area or the opposite direction along the lagoon (if you don't want to walk, the local buses are cheap and come by frequently). Our only complaint was the acoustics of the hallway outside of our room--we could easily hear people talking as they walked by the door to our room. It wasn't unbearable but it did make us wish that the hotel would take measures to muffle the sound.

Overall, pretty good
By ,
The most irritating aspect of staying here was that this was a Hyatt when we booked (in Nov. '08) and things promised (through Expedia) somehow did not get transferred, so we had to argue with the check-in people. For example, we were supposed to get free breakfast and an upgrade to the "best" tower with a free cocktail hour, but in the end they would only give us the breakfast. Here is a brief overview of the pros and cons: Pros: Nicely located, very clean, bus stop right in front of the hotel, great view from room, massage was pretty good Cons: 1.The beach was pretty dirty. We watched the hotel staff pick up seaweed in the mornings, but every time we went down to play on the beach, there were plastic cups, straws, limes, etc. strewn about... 2.The timeshare "hawks" harassed us several times when we walked through the main building (and even once on the beach!). 3.The restaurants were average. The breakfast buffet was pretty good, but the restaurant closest to the sea was pretty bland. 4.Beware of the cleaning people. They kept taking our beach towels. You have to pay $25/towel if you don't return those. The first time we called the front desk to tell them that the maids took our towels, they gave us a hard time about it and didn't want to bring us new ones.

Had a wonderful visit!
By ,
As this was a honeymoon visit, it would not have taken much to make me happy. We both were very pleased from the moment we walked into the lobby. We had a great room (not the best nor was it needed) very comfortable and with a king bed. First look on the balconey...huge lizard below on a stone wall. GREAT! The peacock were friendly and even ate out of our hands. Hotel staf were helpful and courtous. Would love to return for another visit!

Worst Hotel Ever!
By ,
This is our last night in Cancun and instead of having fun, I am writing this review. This should be indication of how strongly I feel about how bad this hotel is. I seriously have had better service at Motel 6. First, they booked us in a room with 2 standard beds instead of a King Bed. They have one restaurant to eat at since their other restaurant is closed for construction and the food is substandard. For lunch we had a disgusting cheeseburger and the rest of our meal never arrived, so we had to cancel the order after 30 minutes of waiting, but then our bill took another 15 minutes to arrive and they had not removed the canceled food. Then it took 3 phone calls to the front desk to get them to figure out why we could not sign in to the internet and every time they said they would call us back and no one ever did until I showed up at the front desk. Dinner was yet another horrible experience. The buffet had very few options and many of the plates needed to refilled, so I asked the waiter to do so which took a good 15 minutes. When we ordered tea at the end of the meal, we again had to ask multiple times for it and then the first water came to us lukewarm which we returned and the next one could have been right out of the toilet. It was yellow with floaties and when we confronted the waiter, he said their filter was no working. So don't take a risk at ruining your vacation, don't stay at the worst hotel ever!

Great vacation!
By ,
Beautiful views from our beach front room. 3 separate beach areas, although not very big, made the place feel more spacious. Since we went during the off-season, there were times we had a whole beach to ourselves. There is a barrier reef built about 100 yards from the beach making the crystal clear blue water almost perfectly still. Getting one of the cabanas (outdoor beds) was a luxury I hope to experience again soon. There was not a lot of activities on-site besides lounging (which was amazing) at the beach or the two pools, but the concierge was really great. The rest of the staff was also excellent, going out of their way to learn our names and to be helpful throughout our stay. The rooms were pretty standard except for the bathrooms which feature really modern and unique double sinks and an awe-inspiring walk-in shower with 3 separate shower heads and a built-in seat. The hotel restaurants were a little pricey, but "vacation" prices were fine by me for the 24 hour room service availability. One word of caution: our building was beautiful with all-tile floors, including our room, but VERY slippery when wet, so be careful walking around barefoot (which I did fairly often).

Very Disappointed
By ,
We booked this hotel for our honeymoon, and reserved a room with a king bed and private balcony. When we arrived, the room had 2 standard beds, and the hotel made no attempt honor our room request. They were willing to give us a king bed, but only if we upgraded and paid an extra $150 per night. Truly there was a beautiful view from our patio, but it was at ground level and far from private! Everyone going down to the beach paraded right past our sliding glass door! The hotel was very pretty and the regular staff (waiters, bellmen etc.) were very polite, but there are a lot of choices in Cancun and we wouldn't go back again. It really did feel like "bait and switch!"
