Never again!
By Mr., 06/17/09
I'm sorry I made the mistake of staying at this hotel. I was wide awake between 1-3:30am as recent high school graduates screamed & yelled in the hallway. Security wasn't present and nobody answered the phone at the front desk. After asking, the hotel gave me a partial refund for the inconvenience but I would have preferred to just have a good night's sleep.

Would definately go back again!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/02/09
We just got back from Cancun April 28th. We did not have any problems at all. The staff was very polite and helpful, also the maid service. We did not tip to get good service. In fact we didn't leave the maid anything until the day we left. She left clean towels every day. We also had bottles of water in the bathroom replaced everyday. The servi-bar was not included in the all inclusive, but the bottles of water in the bathroom were included. We had the all inclusive. We stayed in the new tower on the 3rd floor. Yes the beach was gone--but it was also gone from about 6 other hotels also. All you had to do was walk about a block or two and you could get to the beach. We walked at least 2 miles down the beach and none of the hotels had a good beach. We had an oceanview room which was fabulous. The food was really good also. There was a breakfast buffet each morning. Typical eggs, dry cereals, pastries, fruits, fried potatoes, meats, Mexican dishes, at least 4 fruit drinks etc. For lunches you could order from a menu--There were salads, burgers, pizza, shrimp, club sandwiches etc. For Dinner--they had a grill outside which you could choose as much as you wanted--New York strip steaks, rib eye steaks, chicken, 4 different kabobs-shrimp, chicken, steak or octopus. I tried them all and they were very good. you also got salad, dessert, rolls and baked potato. You can also order off the lunch menu or even order room service with the all inclusive. They also have the dine out program--which you can use 1 or 2 nights depending on how long you stay. We were they for 5 days. The location was great--one block down and there was shopping and restaurants and of course the clubs. We didn’t hear anything from the clubs while we were there and I am a very light sleeper. Of course if anyone stayed there during spring break--it would be totally different. We never had a problem with hot water. There was still light construction going on--mainly repairs. The pool was very clean. There were people constantly cleaning up-washing windows, rearranging the lounge chairs. Not once did we have timeshare people come up to us. In the new tower there are only ocean view rooms--none of the rooms face the street. We would definately go back again.

DO NOT STAY HERE
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/07/09
We booked this room for one night and thank goodness had another place to stay while on our vacation. As soon as we opened our room door, the odor made us sick, smelled like bug spray, the room was filthy I would not allow my kids to take their shoes off, and the noise never stopped all night long..there was no beach at all. We checked out first thing in the morning and are never going to stay here again. Do not be deceived by the pictures on the internet.. After we got to our Villa down the hotel zone, we had a great time in Cancun

Not recommended unless you are under 30
By knee injury, 03/18/09
The pictures misrepresent the hotel. It does not have a beach. The old part of the hotel is run down and stinky. The new part is loud. I would only recommend this place if you are a college student and want to party all night.

Do Not Go Here
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/17/09
Just got back - what a disappointment - room was clean but service was horrible. Only 2 waitresses by the pool area, while 5 or 6 waiters were inside doing nothing. We did all inclusive - Was told on day 4 that there was no more canned beer - had to have Corona on tap - First they said that canned beer was for cash paying customers then changed it to timeshare people only. We had canned beer all week up to that point with no trouble. Food was HORRIBLE! The dinner buffet, which is the only option, was terrible except for one day. The breakfast and lunch buffets were equally disgusting. The only good thing we found was ordering the BLT off the lunch menu, chips and guacamole were also good. Nachos and pizza were not good and served COLD. Would never stay here again, even if it were free. No beach either!! The pictures on the internet are not really what it is like

Meh...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/16/09
Supposedly this is a 4 star hotel....not in reality. The rooms are fairly nice, but management is terrible. The phone in my room would never even actually connect to the front desk, so I had to come down to it from the seventh floor whenever I needed something (which was often). The plumbing is great if you enjoy scalding water followed immediately by frigid water and back to scalding again within seconds (this was consistent in other rooms, not just mine). One day the shower would just randomly squirt water for no reason, and I believe it was that same day that the bathroom ceiling was dripping profusely. One of our friends with us stayed in the club area, and traveling there was like traveling to the third world because of the slowly progressing construction. Also, it was on the second floor and the window had no locking mechanism (the front desk was unwilling to do anything about that, even though she was a single girl in an easily accessible room). Do not believe the pictures you see: the pool was missing about a foot of water, the fountains don't actually work, and the beach is nonexistent (by that I mean there is absolutely ZERO beach despite pictures. There is nothing but jagged rocks and shells, and its not actually even safe to enter). Other than all of that, the location was superb. The Krystal is within a couple of blocks of the vast majority of the nightlife (i.e. Corona Bar, Coco Bongo, Senor Frog's). It was also fairly clean, and the pictures of the rooms are accurate (despite the terrible bath rooms). If you are thinking of staying here, I would recommended paying a little bit more for the Hyatt next door or Fiestaamericana across the street, which had a beautiful beach with safer waters.

Most of the claims for this hotel are not true
By John, 03/10/09
No beach. No restaurant in the hotle (all buffets cooked outdoors and have to find someplace to sit and eat. All inclusive option wasn't. Coffe in room - not free: non alcoholic beverages at pool bar - not free; etc. Had to wear a band and sign chit for any food or drink. Room very dirty - asked for change and got it. @nd room better, but housekeeping was poor. Jacuzzi not working - someone said since last year.

Didn't like much about this hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/07/09
We stayed here for our anniversary celebration and what a disappointment. None of the photos on the internet look like the hotel does today - especially the beach area since there isn't a beach. When we arrived and couldn't check in the room yet, we asked if we could change somewhere and they told us to change in the dressing room which was horrible at best. It has three stalls and wasn't clean. All the pools and jacuzzi were filthy - filtration system wasn't working so we didn't even go in them and there is absolutely no beach area so couldn't walk on the beach or go in the ocean. To get to the beach you have to walk on the street for several blocks and then enter at a public entrance point. There is only one restaurant and the food is not good. We ate there the first night, didn't feel good and didn't eat there again. Good thing we didn't get all inclusive. Walls are paper thin and you can hear everything in the other room. Many things in our room didn't work and as many times as we called to have them repair, they never did get fixed in the end. Sure there is nightlife close by but you can also hear it at night when you want to sleep. All in all it was a very disappointing hotel stay - good thing the weather was nice so we could at least enjoy that part of the trip. This should never be rate a 4 star hotel becaues we saw some 4 stars and there was no comparison. Maybe a 2 star at the most!

Don't plan on sleeping if you're in the New Tower
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/28/09
The rooms were nice, the view of the ocean was fabulous however if you are not there to party absolutely do not stay in the new tower. The bars are open until at least 5am and the music actually rocks the room-all night long!! We along with a few others moved to a new room half way through in one of the older buildings and it was much better. No noise. Also there is NO beach in front of the hotel. You have to walk down past some hotels to get to a beach to walk on. The service seems fine. We did not eat in the restaurants. We took a bus into town to eat at the authentic mexican restaurants.

Great place
By Marlin P, 05/16/08
Cant beat the location of the hotel, a half a block from the club "Congo Bongo" and other clubs, bars and a flea market for shopping. Can't tell you about the high prices of food in the hotel because i didn't eat in the hotel. There are others places to eat within walking distance from Mexican to American(Hooters,Hard Rock cafe). We stayed in room 3002 which is the "Club Room Category" i would suggest staying in this section (2nd or 3rd floors) because it seem to be the newest part of the hotel, and these rooms are ocean views and have a balcony which is very romantic. The "Club rooms" come with a free continental breakfast minus the waffles, this breakfast is okay but small, i dont eat alot for breakfast so this was good for me, if not you can always pay to eat in the dining room. The pool was great, but swimming in the ocean by the hotel is not that great a little seaweed, not sure if all the ocean water on that side of the shore is like this. but im not a big ocean swimmer, i like to swim in the pool. Again, the location and view from this hotel was great, you will be able to take some great pictures.
