Meh...

Supposedly this is a 4 star hotel....not in reality. The rooms are fairly nice, but management is terrible. The phone in my room would never even actually connect to the front desk, so I had to come down to it from the seventh floor whenever I needed something (which was often). The plumbing is great if you enjoy scalding water followed immediately by frigid water and back to scalding again within seconds (this was consistent in other rooms, not just mine). One day the shower would just randomly squirt water for no reason, and I believe it was that same day that the bathroom ceiling was dripping profusely. One of our friends with us stayed in the club area, and traveling there was like traveling to the third world because of the slowly progressing construction. Also, it was on the second floor and the window had no locking mechanism (the front desk was unwilling to do anything about that, even though she was a single girl in an easily accessible room). Do not believe the pictures you see: the pool was missing about a foot of water, the fountains don't actually work, and the beach is nonexistent (by that I mean there is absolutely ZERO beach despite pictures. There is nothing but jagged rocks and shells, and its not actually even safe to enter). Other than all of that, the location was superb. The Krystal is within a couple of blocks of the vast majority of the nightlife (i.e. Corona Bar, Coco Bongo, Senor Frog's). It was also fairly clean, and the pictures of the rooms are accurate (despite the terrible bath rooms). If you are thinking of staying here, I would recommended paying a little bit more for the Hyatt next door or Fiestaamericana across the street, which had a beautiful beach with safer waters.
