Hotel Casa Maya, Zona Hotelera

My husband and I just got back a week ago. It was fantastic. It was clean, beautiful, relaxing, the food was very good. The bus is a block away to the left, cabs are on standby if you want to take a taxi. The staff was very friendly, most don't speak English but the hotel makes sure there is someone in every area that does. I went to relax and enjoy the beautiful beach and sun and that is exactly what I did. For me if was perfect!! We will go back! Only 1 complaint....the bed was too firm.

I love everything about this hotel! We have been going here for several years now and it is like my second home. Everyone there is so friendly and everyone is so layed back yet they manage to get their job done. The newly renovated rooms are beautiful, we don't stay in them but the staff was nice enough to give us a look. I am actually coming to stay here again in 9 days I can hardly wait:) I don't understand why everyone is saying it is uncleanly or the appliances don't work, etc. Everything is great and if something doesn't work I know for a fact go down to the front desk and they will fix it for you. There is only 3 channels in English but hey, you didn't come to Mexico to watch t.v did you? There is poolside bingo, ping pong, there is even a little food shack type thing by the pool (1 of the 3 pools) and there is also a restaurant (best fresh food you've ever tasted) inside the hotel. There is also a little supermarket type thing inside the hotel very small but has great food, expensive though. You only live once though right? Also, there isn't an adult only pool, my little sister is about 5 and she swims in there all the time!:) Every Monday there is a welcoming performance where there is a variety of different acts and you can spend your night watching it at some candle lit tables on the beach. There is yoga classes, water volley ball, and there is a volleyball court on the beach. There is also a cute little restaurant maybe 5 minutes away that you can walk to, and to get back to the hotel you can walk down the beach! It's great for a family night out. The only downside of this hotel that I can possible think of is that it's maybe 10 minutes away from the bus stop, if that. And if you wanna sleep, maybe close your balcony door because there is a party boat out every night and trust me if you can't see it you can hear it. Otherwise I love it!

Service was 5 star. Hotel staff was omnipresent and friendly. We were upgraded to a recently renovated room. Our new floor was still being completed so some of the facilities were not available the first couple of days. No heavy construction, but mostly final tweaks to the room, and furnishing the common areas. The AC in the room worked, but could not be adjusted from 20C, so we left it turned off most of the week. We had a very well equipped kitchen and dining area, two 42" Plasma sets, very comfortable beds. Even the Murphy bed was very comfortable. There are several Pools, two Hot Tubs, beachfront and indoor Restaurant and Bars. There is a nice little gym and Spa. My favorite place was in a hammock under a grass roof next to the beach. I often took the PC with me to browse the internet from poolside or the hammock. Life can be pretty nice sometimes. Overall it was very quiet and comfortable. Not really geared for the Spring Break crowd looking for a Hot Time. The beach was very clean and the surf was light because it is facing north with good protection Isla Mujares. Heavier surf is available on the east facing beaches. Most areas were wheelchair accessible, and the staff was very accommodating. Bus service into town and the rest of the Hotel Zone is frequent and cheap, although bus stops are a bit of a hike from the front of the hotel. There are always cabs available standing by on the hotel grounds. Our severe lack of Spanish was never a problem. We were always able to find folks that were helpful (even in Walmart, unlike other reviewers). The town of Cancun was somewhat run down, I suspect in part because of the slow world economy, but also because of repeated hurricane damage. We did manage to find good restaurants wherever we went, and did not have a problem with Montezuma's Revenge. I certainly will be going back, and the other guests that we talked to seemed very pleased with their choice of Casa Maya, and most were repeat customers already.

What a wonderful place with a wonderful staff. You can see that they have really made an effort to upgrade the facility and that the staff is the absolutely best. Can't wait to go back. You can tell that they take the reviews seriously. Still need to work on the pillows!! Food was great beach was perfect and very exclusive to the guest only.

It's a decent place for the money, nice beach, pool, close to downtown (by bus). The Time Share sales force ruined the week with their hounding and making promises that could not be verified. When we attempted to terminate the sales contract within the time period they got nasty. Now we are heading down the legal road....... I suggest you look elsewhere.

NOTHING TO DISKLIKE THIS IS A GREAT CLEAN RESORT, EXCELLENT FOOD AND UN BEATABLE SERVICE, THE REPRESENTIVES WERE VERY INFORMATIVE AN NO PRESSURE TO BUY INTO THE TIMESHARE...

The Room was Large, the Service was GREAT!! they take care of all your needs. The Food is Very good and also Affordable. They Provide alot of activitys for Adults and also for the kids. The Swimming Pools are Big and Nice and the Waiter Service on the Beach is awesome and the beach is Beautiful. Me and my wife will definetly be coming back to stay here at Casa Maya.

the only thing we liked about this resort was the beach. the room well below standard, the toilet did'nt flush half the time, lighting in bathroom was inadequit. as for the food menu,forget it! if you like eating the same thing all week, this is the place for you. out door patio aera adjacent to your room, dirty rusted furniture. don;t plan to watch t.v. three stations in english, cnn. fox. american network. the physical appearance of the building is in need of a major face lift. they do have a private pool no children allowed, adults only. every time we went to use it, they were screaming kids there. i would not recomend this resort to any one i know.

the rooms had rusted lamps and it is a nasty smell throughout the hotel. it is very expensive for the food and etc I recommend you pick somewhere else to stay.

Casa Maya was overall pretty good. This was our first time in mexico and we were expecting quite a bit more...but i guess thats what you get for booking 4-star in a 5-star area. First the first thing you want to do when you arrive:SLEEP. The beds were kinda hard and were a little bit hard to sleep on. The rooms are very clean due to the daily maid service. The bell boys are courteous and checking in is easy. We did have a big problem though, which was that one of our doors of the 2-bedroom suite was busted and so it took them like an hour to fix it and we couldnt get into our master suite. The hotels location is kinda out of the way and it takes like 10 minutes to get to most of the restaurants. The airport is pretty close; about 20 or 30 minutes. It is situated on a very nice beach and a lagoon and has 2 very nice pools and 2 hot tubs and it has a pool(and beach)-side bar and restaurant, called Coco Loco. It has a market INSIDE that has most of the things you would need. However, you can also go to the Wal-mart that is close by to get pretty much anything. Beware however, because the Wal-mart employees do not speak =ANY= English. I would recommend that you rent a wave runner, as they are very fun. If you decide to go (which I will probably not) it is a little bit above good hotel. ~Jennifer
