Description

With its newly updated 12,000-square-foot pool and patio area, this hotel offers more room for each poolside visitor than does the typical deluxe property. Divided into three swimming areas all filled with freshwater, it offers a swim-up bar, a lovely waterfall area between pool levels, a jacuzzi and a grill. The hotel offers amazing views of both the Pacific Ocean and Cabo Bay. Because of undertows, swimming from the beautiful beach in front of the hotel is not recommended.

Beds are hard as concrete!
By ,
I loved the view of the pool and ocean from the room. The beds were so hard that we only slept 3-4 hours from tossing and turning all night. We had to go next door to Playa Grande to get a massage, since no spa at this hotel. August is a bad time to go to Cabo! Only 10 people at the most out by the pool and the Marlin restraurant had only 3 couples there.

What a disappointment!
The room/"suite" was spacious, the grounds/pool were exceptional, and the pool-side food/service was good. However, the room furnishings/linens were worn and cheap. The bed was incredibly hard; felt the metal springs through the paper-thin sheets. Sheets didn't fit king-sized bed; so 6 inches of bare mattress at bottom of bed. Pillows were very worn out, and only given 2 small, worn-out bath towels each day. Felt like a Motel 6 or older Best Western with a view, good pool area, and close proximity to downtown. Plus... the ocean was too dangerous (currents), so had to drive elsewhere to go into ocean. Also, beware of the steep, long walk up to the hotel from the street. Tough going if you have any medical limitations and wish to walk about. Front-desk personnel struggled with English and were rude. We considered moving after check in, explored other hotels in area and found better places for less, but had unfortunately pre-paid and no refund was allowed. We thought we were getting a luxury hotel, but would never, ever stay here again! I've visited Mexico numerous times, and this was the worst hotel yet and cost the most. I don't know what the other reviewers have to compare, but it must not be much.

Will never go again
By ,
The service from the beginning was absolutely awful. The staff was extremely slow and didn't care when it came to good customer service. I had things stolen from my room as well. The quality of the food in the restaurants was awful too. I will never stay there again.

This is what dreams are made of!!!
By ,
The best quality that this resort has is the staff and how they treat everybody as if they were the ones there. Everybody caters to what ever you want and they make feel relaxed. If I had the chance to move any where in the world, this would be the spot.

Enjoyed our stay!
By ,
My wife and I just retured from a 1 week stay at the Finisterra. They room was excellent even though it was the "old" section. Service was exceptional and all staff was very helpful. Be in shape - as mentioned before the hill is not your friend, especially in the afternoon after a long day of shopping. Not the best location if your interests lie in town. Our luggage arrived 2 days after us but the hotel was on top of the airline everday for us. Good food, not great - but always fast and pleasant. I would stay again when in town.

Great value and location
By ,
My husband and I stayed there (first time to Mexico) during the end of August of 2005. The pictures on-line do not do the place justice! We had a one bedroom suite overlooking the pool and it was awesome with a balcony where you could sit and watch the sunset. Very quite and nice - just a 15 minute walk to town for nightlife and plenty of taxi's if you need one. The service was very prompt and friendly. Our room was only $100 per night, as summer is the off season. The only downfall was that the king size bed was hard as a rock. I have heard this is a common problem in Mexico. The food and drinks at the hotel pool and restaurant were excellent! There is happy hour by the pool every day from 2-4PM then from 4-6PM at the upstairs bar by the restaurant. The drinks were strong! Only downfall in Cabo is that everywhere you go, people are bugging you to buy something or the whole timeshare deal. The hotel is on a private beach - no swimming, but also no vendors hassling you. Also state of the art business center for business travelers - checked email every morning. We will stay there again!

Great Hotel, Extremely Slow Service
By ,
This is my second trip to Cabo. We stayed at the Finisterra this time and which was nice. I will start with the good stuff. The grounds are beautiful and meticulously maintained. The rooms are very clean and the staff for the most part was very friendly. The pools are great and the swim up bar at the middle pool serves some great drinks. The morning after we checked in, we paid an extra $50.00 per day for the all-inclusive package which is worth it. The food at the pool bar, the Whale Watcher Bar, and the Blue Marlin Restaurant was all good. Try the shrimp tacos at the pool! The Blue Marlin has a buffet in the mornings for breakfast and a couple of nights during the week. We had the Italian buffet one night which was actually quite good. The breakfast buffet was good a couple of mornings, but after that, I had to order off the menu. I don't think I ate anything I didn't like and the drinks at the hotel are cheaper than what you will find in town. Most bars charge $5.00 for a beer. Now to the bad. We arrived late from Dallas to a quick check-in. That was the last thing that was quick. The beds in this hotel are the hardest I have ever slept on. The pull-out sleeper sofas are more comfortable. My sister-in-law ordered room service one morning and waited an hour and a half for scrambled eggs and sausage. The service in general is VERY SLOW. Unless you are standing at the bar or eating dinner in the Blue Marlin, expect to wait for your food or drink. You will continue to wait when you request the check. Even with the all-inclusive bracelet on your wrist, you still have to sign the check. The Finisterra is on the Pacific coast and during the summer months the water is too dangerous to swim in. The undertow is incredible. I watched a man struggle to keep from getting swept out. We were told that someone was swept out the week before and drowned. Trust me, once you see the waves going away from the beach, you will not want to try swimming. For the most part, the Finisterra is very nice. It is a short walk to the marina and there are plenty of water taxis to get you to the beaches. The concierge will set up reservations for you and they can arrange any activities you would like. If you take an extra $100.00, you have got to try Lorenzillo's. You will not be disappointed!

Great place!
By ,
Went for our honeymoon in '01. Great service. If you want privacy, the stretch of beach at the Finisterra is detatched from the main stretch. Room service was exceptional; in-house restaurant was not. Views from any room are unbelievable! Hotel was hard to find. Get really good directions. I would recommend this place to anyone...in fact, even if you don't plan to go to Cabo, change your plans so that you can stay at the Finisterra!

absolutly beautiful
By ,
This place was beautiful. That is the only word to describe it. The staff is amazing, and the rooms and accomidations are wonderful. I am going back there for my second time in 1 week. I am so exited. Everyone should visit the pool bar and ask for the drink named "a ticket to fly!" yummy!
