Return of the Ritz-Carlton Montreal
There are major plans in the works to completely renovate this 1905 landmark hotel. That said, this hotel is spotless and the staff are not only attentive, but go out of their way for their guests. I travel a lot for business, and stay at good hotels all over the world, but my three days at the Montreal Ritz-Carlton was a delight.
Location cannot be beat, to access great restaurants, the museum, and the business district. Breakfast and dinner is first rate, the tea-time is a quaint Victorian touch that I missed only because I was busy, but I understand from other guests it was outstanding. In the summer the courtyard is an oasis for the lunch crowd that want a higher caliber of food and a lot of personal attention.
I visited in November, granted a quieter time, but it was relaxing. Beds and turndown service with world-class Michel Cluizel chocolates on your pillow. The restaurant is very good in a city that is competitive for fine food.
I have to say I would return, because it was mosre than a hotel stay ... it was a refreshing experience!
