Return of the Ritz-Carlton Montreal
By flintsword, 11/22/07
There are major plans in the works to completely renovate this 1905 landmark hotel. That said, this hotel is spotless and the staff are not only attentive, but go out of their way for their guests. I travel a lot for business, and stay at good hotels all over the world, but my three days at the Montreal Ritz-Carlton was a delight. Location cannot be beat, to access great restaurants, the museum, and the business district. Breakfast and dinner is first rate, the tea-time is a quaint Victorian touch that I missed only because I was busy, but I understand from other guests it was outstanding. In the summer the courtyard is an oasis for the lunch crowd that want a higher caliber of food and a lot of personal attention. I visited in November, granted a quieter time, but it was relaxing. Beds and turndown service with world-class Michel Cluizel chocolates on your pillow. The restaurant is very good in a city that is competitive for fine food. I have to say I would return, because it was mosre than a hotel stay ... it was a refreshing experience!

Very old
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/22/07
When you walk into the Ritz Carlton your breath is taken away by beauty. But when you get to the room it is vey small with and old pink bath tub! I don't even remember the last time I saw a pink bath tub, maybe my Grandmother had one. The hotel is so cheap that they don't even have cable! Just a few french channels. And last of all when you want to relax in the pool and sauna you have to walk down to the nearest gym which is a few blocks away! The hotel doesn't even have it's own pool! That's the first time I've been to a hotel that doesn't have a pool. I was a little dissapointed, seeing as The Ritz is supposed to be a five star hotel, I would have to say, it's the worst hotel I've been to.

Bruch
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/29/07
We were a group of 13 people for brunch on Sunday the 27th of May, most of us have had brunch at your Hotel at one time or another. My wife and I were regulars at one time, and I have to admit your brunch is not what it use to be, we were unanimously very deceived. Price, Quality, Service, ordinary to poor Carl Crepaldi

Amazing
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/24/06
I loved it, one hotel that actually had a cordless phone in the room. Very high class! I went to the one in Florida, great view.

Fine experience
By Paul, 09/01/06
While slightly staid and at times more formal than comfortable, the Ritz is a fine hotel and well sighted on Sherbrooke. Rooms are clean, the staff superior and the overall atmosphere appealing. Limited amenities but very satisfying experience for those apt to appreciate the atmosphere.

A Great Hotel
By richard, 05/17/06
Service is what this hotel is all about, and service is what it offers. If I could afford it, I would stay only in this type of hotel.

Not so ritzy Ritz
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/07/05
Nothing ritzy about this Ritz-Carlton. It reminds one of a worn out old mansion, once gilded and moneyed but left to slowly diminish. The bed was a bit uncomfortable and the bathroom was badly designed - from sink to vanity to awful showerheads to awful smelling toiletries. Walls were think as well; we could hear the family next door with their yelling children and loud TV. The location in downtown area is nice but there isn't much to do in the area. Even the shopping on nearby Rue Ste-Catherine is only so-so. It is a bit overpriced for what it offers; you pay for the name.
